According to the speaker, all faculty incollege and university should take part in some jobs outside their academicworld in professions about the courses they teach. I conced that this suggestion will help teachers improve their ability of instruction. However, it seems more justifiable for teachers to strike a balance between their own academic areas and societal jobs.

Admittedly, spending time working outsidethe academic world might enhance the teachers' quality of instruction of courses they teach for reason that empirical experiences in society can help teachers comprehend their courses more deeply and thoroughly in the teaching endeavors. After all, knowledges on book merely amount to abstract notions and concepts. Only by using them in reality, can these knowledges become useful and practical informations which might be more easily understood and comprehended. For example, students major in law might feel boring when they study the courses on law, but if their teacher has working as lawyer and experienced in the court, perhaps he or she might change these dull knowledges into vivid illustrations. Thus, teachers who have real societal working experiences have the ability to inspire their students' interests and enthusiasm in learning.

Nevertheless,  it is unreasonable for teachers to spend too much time on working outside their professional fields. After all, the ultimate objective and function of teachers is teaching students in order to help them become those who are useful for the society as a whole. Excessive jobs outsidethe academic endevor might undermine, more often than not, the teaching mission which is the primary function of teachers. Every teacher or anyone who has once acted as teacher will have the idea that teaching is an onerous task, which is full of repeated but indispensable jobs, such as preparing lectures, correcting papers, and so on. Therefore, encouraging teachers to take part in societal jobs perhaps brings about negative influences in teaching especially when itcomes to the fact that everyone including the teacher has limited time and energy.

To sum up, the speaker's assertion is actually reasonable to some extent, particularly with respect to the fact that working experiences outside academic field actually improve the teachers' comprehension about their courses they teach and enhance their quality in teaching tasks. However, it seems more justifiable for all faculty to keep in mind the very function and objective of teacher in educational career, and keep a balance between their teaching endeavors and societal jobs.
