With the fast development of technology, our life styles are greatly changed. With the appearance of video camera, we are now can obtain more accurate, instant and vivid records than before. However, we should also overlook the writing records, the traditional form of record, which stills plays a vital role in recording our ideas and emotions.
Video cameras, with its unfiltered eyes, can provide us the exact, objective and accurate records to us. Though the video records, we would obtain a more objective aspect and thus we are not likely be influenced by the recorder’s preference. Though the technology of modifying the video works are more and more mature, the video records that are not technological dealt with are more treasured by people if they want to see what actually happened. With these unprocessed records, we can obtain the most accurate and objective vision.
Furthermore, video records can recall us what happened then with vivid picture. Compared with the abstract vision of writing records, video can easily make records more vivid and thus easier to understand. For instance, if we want to watch matches of 2006 world cup and we are thousands of miles away from German, we can easily watch them whenever and whatever we like and can enjoy almost the same vision as people can in the court. The vivid picture and clear cheers of football fans in the court bring us to the court with them; to be exciting and enjoying with them. We are not bound to space and time insofar with the advent of video camera. The vivid picture the cameras bring to us help us to surpass this limitation.
Besides above, another advantage of video is its instant records of instances and issues, which is mostly applied in the news filed. The video records are almost accomplished at the same time the incidents end and thus they can be showed to the audiences immediately. This intrinsic character ensures the statue of camera in the industry of news and recreation. People are always wondering the least news and thus the video records can satisfy them. We can hardly expect there are any other recording tools can provide immediate records faster than video records. Though the speed of development of newspaper is accelerating, it is hard to catch up with the video industry in this aspect. For instance, we can immediately know what happened in the war in Iraq and learn the comments of experts from the newspaper a day later.   
However, when we enjoy the great pleasure and convenience video cameras bring to us, we should not overlook the significance of writing records in our daily lives, especially in recording the ideas and emotions.  Though writing records can not compete with video records in the sense of accuracy, immediateness, and vividness of recording appended incidents, we should not rely on video records to keep down our ideas and emotions. Writing records are often accomplished after the writers personal ideas and rational analysis. Thus they are the perfect tool to records our human's pearls of wisdom. Besides, the writing records are more systematic than video records, thus its use in the professional field and academic education cannot be replaced by the video games.
In sum, while the video records are playing more and more important role in our daily life, we should not ignore the significance of writing records in the academic fields.
