To some extent, the tradition and modernization exclude each other in sometimes. Whether they are incompatible is real or not is shown in the examples of fields of history, science and sports. These examples reflect the relation between tradition and modernization.

They are indeed trash in some cases. A good example is from the field of history. How to deal with the problem between protection of old buildings and development of city is a hard-pressed issues for many time-honored countries such India, Egypt and China. Luoyang, which is the famous historical and cultural city of China, met this kind of problem four years ago. As it ever was the capital of ancient China for nine times, there are a large number of history sites in or near the city. While the local government intended to build a public square and supermarket for facilitating the residents in the centre of the city, they found an ancient tomb near the area. The experts conducted archeological work and found a carriage of the king of Zhou dynasty. So the local government had to cancel the building plan. In this case, one has to choose on out of the two—tradition and modernization.

The other side of the coin, so to speak, is not examined in the statement. In most cases, the modernization is on the basis of tradition. A telling example is in the fields of mathematics. The development of mathematics just like a river, from ancient Greek mathematics to Advanced Mathematics to Set Theory, the new mathematics learn from the elders then further the mathematical theory and method. From Euclid to Gauss to Einstein, the one is another's ladder which helps the latter surpass the above one.Euclid geometry is the basis of Analytic Geometry, and then the on both of them Projective Geometry came. If without the accumulation of the foregoing mathematicians, the modern mathematics is impossible to exist.

Not only science but in the world of sports, the relation between the two factor is inheriting and development. This shows how modernization carries and promotes the tradition. The ancient Olympic Games is derived from the Greek, and its form and contents influence the modern Olympic Games deeply such as Flame, Torch relay, Marathon race. Although the programs, countries, scale and holding rules of modern Olympic Games are conspicuously different from the ancient, it inherits the spirits and important sports of ancient one, especially the spirits of ancient Olympic Games which lead to the strikingly success of modern Olympic Games. In the light of the foregoing examples, it is clear that in most areas, tradition is not only compatible but crucial for modernization.

Although there is indeed a confliction between tradition and modernization, it is too absolute a statement to be true. Human beings need a balance between the tradition and modernization, not inclining too much to either. As society grows in learning and develops economically and socially, there will need to be a continuous adjustment to keep that balance. 500
