Argument 38
In this argument, the author recommends that the daily use of Ichthald is a good way to prevent colds and lower absenteism.To support his recommendation, the author cites a study report in East Meria (EM)which points out that people in EM comsume large fish and  also points out that people in EM visit the doctor only once or twice per year for colds. Based on this study report,the author reasons that the high fish comsumption explains the EM’s people fewer times of visiting doctor. However I find this argument logically unconvincing in several respects.

To begin with, the author unfairly equals “the few times of seeing docotor for colds ”with the few chance of catching colds. However, It is entirly possible that these people in East Meria think the cold is insignificant and do not like to see doctor when they have colds. In this case, these people in EM may frequently catch a cold but do not visit the doctor.

Secondly,Even if these people in East Meria surely have fewer colds than other people, the author assumes further these people’s fewer colds was due to eating fish. The autor ignores a host of other possible explanations.Perhaps these people in East Meria have more good living habits than others.Perhaps these pople in East Meria frequently take exercises.Perhaps the weather in EM is more warmer than other place. In short,without accounting for other factors that might contribute to the fewer times of catching a cold , the author can not justify eating fish can prevent colds,let alone Ichthaid- antrinational supplement derived from fish oil.
Thirdly,Even assuming that eating fish can prevent from cold, the recommendation rest on another assumpation that the Ichthaid contains the ingredient which contributes to preventing cold.Lacking sufficient evidence it is entire possible that the preventing cold ingredient is fishkin which the Ichthaid just do not contain becasue it was derived from fish oil.

Finally, the author unfairly assumes that the main reason for people’s absence from shool and work is cold.However the author provides no convince to substantiate it .It is entirely possible that the cold is only a pretext for people’s absence. In this case,even if the chance of people’s catching a cold decrease, people also are absent from work based on the reason of cold. In short, unless the author can show the true reason for most people’s absence,I can not accept the recommendation.

In sum, this argument is logically flawed and therefore unconvincing as it stands.To strengthen it the author must provide better evidence that eating Ichprevent is helpful in preventing cold and people’s absence from work  was due to cold.
