TOPIC: ISSUE17 - "There are two types of laws: just and unjust. Every individual in a society has a responsibility to obey just laws and, even more importantly, to disobey and resist unjust laws."
WORDS: 443        DATE: 2006-12-29

The speaker asserts that laws can be divided to two types: just and unjust, and everyone in a society has a responsibility to obey just laws and it's more important that everyone to disobey and resist unjust laws. I agree insofar as every individual in a society has a responsibility to obey laws. However, in my view, here comes a question that how we can judge the just or unjust laws and, when we meet the laws which we feel unjust to ourselves, we should put them forward and hand them over to the legislature.

First of all, law is a tool created by ruler, and by means of it ruler maintains its authority and keep the stability of society. Thus, for every individual, laws have two sides, that is, laws are just for some people and unjust for others. In other word, different people have different criteria. It is just the reason that the equity of laws should not be judged by citizens themselves. Otherwise, the purpose of setting up laws can't be achieved and country will get into confusion.

Secondly, I agree the statement that every individual has a responsibility to obey laws. Laws and regulation are set up to maintain the stability of society, however, if laws can not be carried out by public or only carried out by partly public who regard the laws as just laws, the stability of society is impossible. To illustrate this clearly, here is a example that is very persuasive. In forces, there may be exist so-called correct and false command. At this moment, if soldiers refuse to carry out the commands which they feel are false, the army must be indefensible. Thus, every individual comply with laws is the base of the stability of country. And only if the stability of country is assured, it comes to the question whether the laws are just.

However, even if the equity of laws should not be judged by public, every individual has the right to put forward his or her opinions about the laws. These opinions should be handed over to the legislature. This operation not only contributes to the stability of society, but also does good to improve the equity of laws. The laws will become more and more just with the endeavor of every individual. Accordingly, citizens also have the responsibilities to put forward their views about laws.

In sum, I concede that every individual in a society should comply with laws. However, the equity of laws should not be judged by populace just because everyone has his or her criteria. And it's important that everyone put forward his or her opinions to the legislature.

The speaker asserts that laws can be divided tointo two types: just and unjust, and everyone in a society has a responsibility to obey just laws and it's more important that everyone to disobey and resist unjust laws. I agree insofar as every individual in a society has a responsibility to obey laws. However, in my view, here comes a question that how we can judge the just or unjust laws and, when we meet the laws which we feel unjust to ourselves, we should put them forward and hand them over to the legislature. 我看到最后一个句子有点不解,we should 讲的是前面question的解决办法吗,还是两个并列的论点?如果是前者的话,加一个因果连词会更明确一些

First of all, law is a tool created by ruler, and by means of it ruler maintains its authority and keep the stability of society. Thus, for every individual, laws have two sides, that is, laws are just for some people and unjust for others. In other words, different people have different criteria. It is justmerely (or for the reason that,那么多just容易混淆) the reason that the equity of laws should not be judged by citizens themselves. Otherwise, the purpose of setting up laws can't be achieved and a country will get into confusion.

Secondly, I agree the statement that every individual has a responsibility to obey laws(issue讲的是遵守正义的laws不遵守不正义的法律,这里如果简单的说遵守法律会有所冲突&混淆,明确到应该遵守所有的laws会好些). Laws and regulation are set up to maintain the stability of a society, however, if laws can not be carried out by public or only carried out partly by public who regard the laws as just, the stability of society is impossible. To illustrate this clearly, here is a example that is very persuasive(here is a persuadable example会简洁些,另外persuasive是修饰人的,应该用persuadable修饰物) . In forces, there may exist so-called correct and false command. At this moment, if soldiers refuse to carry out the commands which they feel are false, the army must be indefensible. Thus, that every individual comply with laws is the base of the stability of a country. And only if the stability of a country is assured, it comes to the question whether the laws are just.这里应该解释一下为什么没有stability就无法讨论法律的正义性;另外也不是狠明确这里的laws是指某些条文还是整体的laws

Summary comments:
1.        全文结构清晰,论点明确
2.        语言准确流畅
3.        段三的例子很有力
4.        其他段有更多的例子能令论述更加具体有力
5.        总的来说是一篇不错的文章
