I strong agree with the speaker’s assertion that the absence of choice is a circumstance that is very ,very rare. Admittedly, there are something which are along with us when we were born and we can’t choose such as gender, parents, nations. In my view, except these, we can choose any thing : which college we would attend? Who we would marry? What career we would pursuit? ……However, sometimes people claim that life’s circumstances leave with them” no choice”. Is it really? I think this is because they lack confidence and persistence , in any condition, if only we have courage and persistence , we can have many choice.

To begin with, confidence is the prerequisite of turning so called “no choice” to “many choice”. Taking attending college for example, in China, every student who want to attend college must pass the admission test. When one student failed in the admission test at the first time, generally, two attitudes would appear: If he/she trusted in his/her ability, he/she would say to himself/herself: “ other students can do , then I can do, so I can have a try in the next year.” Then, he/she begin to analyze the actual causes of his/her faith and study hard. To contrary , If he/she lack confidence in himself/herself, he/she would say to himself/herself:”I have no choice and only can worked as a waiter, because I am not so clear to pass the admission.” However, does the latter student truly has no choice except working as a waiter ? No. In fact, this student also has many choice, he can continue to prepare for the next admission test like the former students, he can study by himself law thereby becoming a lawyer in the future ……。In short, he/she can do anything he/she like. But confidence is the most important qualification that a man who want to have many choice.


Besides confidence, perseverance is another prerequisite for changing “no choice” to “many choice”. Taking the same example I mentioned above. Being drove by the confidence, the student plunge into study hard. But, when he/she studies math for a week, he/she finds the math is so difficult and study is so boring: everyday, he/she must spend much time in solving hundreds of mathematical question and reading paper and books and has no time to play games, go shopping, and stroll in the park. Therefore he/she begins to give up his/her plan of hard work thereby being apart from his dreaming of attending college. Then the leave with him is also “no choice”. Contrary, if the student can persevere in his/her effort to pass the admission exam. His/her score certainly improve in the next year. Having a perfect performance in admission test, he/she would have many choices: he/she can attend the top college, he/she can choose the major he/she likes, he/she can chose the college in the city he/she like and so on. Thus, if only we have strong capability of perseverance ,we can have many choice.

In sum , the absence of choice is rarely, but not everyone can catch these choices in any time, only the person has encourage and perseverance has chance to choose any possible thereby realizing his/her dream.
