The speaker asserts that the study of history has value only insofar it is relevant to our daily lives. In my opinion, this statement is not comprehensive. I think that the study of history is valuable not only in these fields which are relevant to our daily lives, but also in other fields which are not relevant to our daily lives.

Admittedly, to study history indeed provide value to day-to-day activities of human being. The improvement of things related with our daily life contributes to the study of history. Consider the house we live, Compared with the ancient time, the house now we live has stronger ability of withstanding attack of storm or earthquake. What cause this? It is the architect who gain valuable information from historical buildings and improve the ways and material of building houses more and more. Similarly,  food , clothing, vehicle and so on which have great impact on the standard of our lives all be enhanced by the study of history. In short, the study of history enrich and improve our daily life.

However, the study of history also has value in other areas which are not directly relevant to our daily lives, such as politics, economy, geography areas. In political realm, leaders and reformers get innumerable lessons from the political events in history. For example, from the study of ‘qing’ dynasty in China, political leaders learn that “complacent and conservative” would leads to social downfall ,and in order to accelerate the development of China, the government must apply more open policy in international corporation and intercommunication.

In economy, the study of historical phenomena made people realize the regulation of economy which make guidance on the economical activities of today and tomorrow. By analyzing a myriad of historical economical phenomena, Marx proposed the famous theory—the function of supply and demand which greatly benefit the productions of merchandise at the present time. According to this theory, manufacturers can consciously control their yield to avoid unnecessary loss .

In geography, historical geological movements provide valuable reference to predict natural disaster. In China, the study of “tang shan “earthquake make the geographer more familiar with the exceptional phenomena happened before earthquake and improve the approach of prognosticating earthquake calamity.

In conclusion, from these aspects I mentioned above , we can conclude that the value of the study of history is not confine to the fields which are relevant to daily lives. In fact, the study of history not only effect day-to-day activities but also effect the development of the society as a whole.

例子的作用有限,在形式上例子举到了,但是建筑的进步和历史研究有很大的联系么?在构思一下。

However, the study of history also has value in other areas which are not directly relevant to our daily lives, such as politics, economy, geography areas.这一地方再说得清楚一点,具体解释如何不日常相关,原题的daily 比较模糊。 In political realm, leaders and reformers get innumerable lessons from the political events in history. 经济学在西方,贡献者不归为marx,换成adam smith

展开不够。

语言没有什么大问题,例子的相关性上还可以再提高。
举例后的分析在加强。
如果是限时的话,很不错了,加油!
