In the age of television, reading books is not as important as it once was. People can learn as much by watching television as they can by reading books.

For our grandparents it occurred through books. For the baby boomers it was a result of television. For our times, is has a trend to become the internet. No matter how the forms of getting information and education, it is clear that with the development of society, the books have playing a crucial role in human’s spiritual world, and television, or even internet could by no means take place of them.

In the age of television, it as a new form of media has been communicating with masses with its lifelike image and vivid sound. There’s no denying that image and sound are methods of more efficiency in sending information. In our father’s time, student Amy had a huge book shelf, full blocks of books. When she is in need of one of the blocks, she may have to climb up a quiet long and somehow dangerous ladder to search it. She absolutely never forgot that time when she fell down from the ladder and had almost a month stay in the armchair. The first time she came across a television, the initial television, she was attracted and shocked by such a splendid thing, for she could only read in books and image from the description. Never forget the lifelike sound, that was the books wouldn’t tell. And yet...

Amy’s descendants come to question the benefits of television only very lately. As the method of education, it has many inherent flaws. Amy watched television and enjoyed the explosion of information, suddenly, she met something strange she never heard or read in books, and from the thirst of knowledge, she was long to ask or discuss with others, but there was only a blabbing television. Taking television as a method of education is unquestionable unsuitable, because it couldn’t give feedback upon students’ respond. However, it is not all the facts. Amy began to cherish the memory of the blocks of books then she got angry about the soulless television. Her imagination was robbed by direct sending image and sound, then, she cherished the little dreams she had when she was reading books, and the groundless fantasy she ever has. Television sends massage so directly that fades its emotional nature and limits receivers’ creation. What’s more, television has difficulties to popularize. In a place without sufficient supplies of electricity, low could television work? Teachers’ voice and writing seem available compare to television.

As the method of spreading information, television also has many disadvantages. From the first time Amy’s sun addicted himself to rock music and cigarette only because that he supposed the singers and smokers were so cool on television, Amy finally completely knew that television has few chances to be a good educator. Being the means of media, television could not efficiently select the information. The major function of media is not education, but sending information. In other words, if there is information of economic benefit, even it has some misleading to children, it will not be banned.

While I am not simply refuse television, I do believe that it is a nice media but not good educator, and it could never replace the books and teachers. From what has been discussed above, I prefer watch television just for recreation. Television gives endless messages and convenient ways to know the world. Now we need to apply the massages, use the time we’re not spending looking for books on the ladder, and pursue our means of lives.

语言不错，结构比较灵活。这篇题目（I38）的主题是：阅读是否会被电视所取代？人们是否能从看电视中获得和阅读一样的收获？显而易见，后一个问题是前一个问题的论据，如果没有对后一个问题的讨论，就无法对前一个问题作出判断。本文以Amy的切身经历，讲述了电视给人带来的精彩生活，和随后引发的弊端（无法和他人沟通，没有思考的余地，对青少年没有起到好的教育作用），应该说各个部分的衔接自然，问题是，这些内容是否回应了主题？有没有体现出电视和阅读的对比？仅仅从“便捷”的角度讲是否有说服力？我觉得有必要重新审一下题目。
