I agree with the statement that to be an effective leader, a public official must maintain high ethical and moral standards. However, the statement that a leader should keep the highest ethical and moral standards real or imagined is shown in the following examples of a large number of great historic leaders.
To be an effective and excellent leader, high ethical and moral standards are significant. When leaders make sharp contradiction with the morality of masses, they fall into whirlpool and in the end are doomed into failure. For example, Bill Clinton, the former American president, was notorious for the improper sexual relationship with Monica Lewinsky, a White House intern. Although he got political protection, his work and reputation was affected at that period of time. Another telling example is the former Germany chancellor--Kohl. Kohl, who was the architect of German political reunification and the first chancellor after Germany reunified, was swept away by his competitors in the national presidential election of 1998. The reason is that he involved in the scandal of misusing the public funds. Therefore, every leader must seek high morality in order to be accepted by the masses.
The effective leaders must keep high moral and ethical standards so as to be inspiring role models. Such leadership is more likely to result in other public official and all citizens giving the country and government their loyalty and superior performance. Take the former Chinese premier--Chou En-lai as an example. Chou En-lai lives a simple life and devotes to the work through his life. Due to his selflessness and whole-hearted devotion to public interests, he wins the respects of his coworkers and all people. Although China is poor and awkward in the 1950's, being encouraging and inspiring by his spirits, people all worked hark and Chinese economy developed rapidly during that time.感觉有点问题,不知道是不是上一个论点的延续,model也有点泛,例子倒是不错
Although high ethical and moral criterions are crucial to leaders, the statement of maintaining the highest ethical and moral standards is a little overstated. A politician’s job is to build, maintain, and expand the wealth, prosperity and political influence of his nation, company不知道是否合适,商业领袖把, and institution. This is his or her primary concern, many more times than we would like to think, realizing those goals require them to make choices that are outside the bounds of morality. For example, sometimes, the country’s interest is contradicted to the universal moral or ethical standards, in such case, the leader must choose either morality or national interests, he or she maybe have no choice but violate the standards. So in some cases, to be excellent leaders, they cannot maintain the highest criterions of morality and ethic. TS比我的要好,不错 In sum, in some extent, due to the importance of maintaining the high ethical and moral standards to leaders, the statement is reasonable and persuasive. Yet, the statement is a little overstated in the extent of keeping the standards. History and common sense tell me that sometimes the eminent leaders cannot behave in the highest moral and ethical standards; they need to strike a balance between achieving their aim and maintaining the standards. 总体感觉不错,但是可能个人的理解不同,也可能第二点很好
