Should we place more emphasis on the education of the social abilities, which can help children integrate themselves into society and make great efforts for society, as the speaker claims? I fundamentally agree with the speaker that the education of social abilities is crucial, such as communicative and collaborative abilities. Yet, strictly followed, the speaker overlooks the importance of the education of sensibility and the cultivation of innovative thinking, which also play impetus roles in the development of children and society.
Admittedly, it is because of the high complexity of technology and science in this era that communication and cooperation become indispensable abilities for any individuals in society. As individual energy and time is limited, it is nearly impossible that an individual deals with a vast number of information and operates a huge amount of resource in order to make some great efforts to the development of society. Thus, communicative and collaborative abilities are necessary for individuals. For example, in a science research team, communicating and cooperating effectively can avoid wasting of time and resource. Consequently, the enhancement of efficiency contributes to the elevation of efforts to society. In one word, we should pay enough attention to the education of the abilities of communication and cooperation.
However, the speaker overlooks the importance of cultivation of children interests, which play a key function to improve their work and study efficiency. When it comes to this statement, a convincing case in point is that enjoying music enables people to relax sound and edifies inspiration. As is known to all, Albert Einstein was adept in playing violin; Leo Tolstoy was good at performing piano; Frederick Engels was keen on German ballads. More or less, all of them had claims that music helps them a lot in their rest time and enables them to be charged with full of energy for their works. In fact, there is no doubt that we should cultivate children's interests in certain aspects, such as music, which can have a favorable effect in their future study, work and lives.
More importantly, the cultivation of innovative thinking should be placed enough emphasis, which is one of the fountainhead power to impel the development of society. Without innovative thinking, there is no innovation so that society may be bogged down in a marsh. Since that the thinking of innovation is not genius obtained before children's birth, this thinking must be cultivated gradually to gain. It is as a seed, and its growth needs soil, climate, fertilizer and irrigation to burgeon, root, bloom and fruit. And it is easier to foster this innovative thinking in early time than other period during one's life. According to this, educators, parents and society should place enough emphasis on the cultivation of children's innovative thinking.
To sum up, the speaker finds observantly the importance of communicative and collaborative abilities for the development of children and society; however, at the same time, the speaker overlooks the effect of the education of interests and innovative thinking which also have impetus use for children and society. What children learned and gained determined future what they can do to society.
