147 "Tradition and modernization are incompatible. One must choose between them." 传统和现代不相容。人们必须在二者之间做出选择。
这篇写得太沮丧了，我之前列了非常详细的提纲，但是写出来完全是另外一个样子。而且感觉自己不知所云。

我们谈到现代化理论中的“现代”一词，往往会与“传统”相联。在部分人眼中，传统与现代似乎是永恒对立的,然而思辨其义，从某种程度上来说，“传统”的未必就不是“现代”的，“现代”的也未必就一定反“传统”。

首先，“传统”在很大程度上，它是一个民族由历史言传而来的表现在制度、文化、精神、风俗、心态等方面的积淀，而现代是更以一种工业化、全球化的形式展现。科学以技术的形式运用于人的实践已成为现代社会的一个特征

一方面，传统与现代的冲突是不可避免的。因为现代化的过程往往是要求打破传统社会才能向现代转变。现代化本身就是一个创造与毁灭并举的过程，它以牺牲部分传统的代价来换取新的机会和前景。而传统又在文化上和认同感上具有很大的力量来维护自己的现状。

另一方面，现代与传统更多的时候也是共存的。实现对传统的突破，最重要的就是要有“创新”精神。创新的核心是技术和制度的创新。传统也会在创新的现代化进程中，激发了我们的灵感。建筑、迪斯尼的动画。

最后，传统与现代之间是一个逐步渐进的过程。在现代化的革命浪潮中，人也不能忽视几千年来人与生活的传统本质。


"Tradition, or modernization, is a question", imagine that Shakespeare crosses through to modern society, he may say his famous saying in this way. When taking into account modernization, we often make it a association with tradition, and vice versa. It seems that tradition and modernization are apposite eternally in most people's opinions. However, when we make a more detailed consideration, we will find out that tradition and modernization are not totally anti from each other.

To begin with, tradition refers to the accumulation of social system, culture, beliefs, values, customs, crafts which are handed down from generation to generation in a society's history. While modernization, refers to a recently developed or advanced style of our lives, such as the process of urbanization, industrialization and democratization, or to some extent, westernization.

On one hand, along with the rapid development of science and technology, it is an inevitable result that there is a conflict between tradition and modernization. As we all know, modernization always requires so much to break down old tradition that it could be come true. For example, traditional manufacturing is being taken by family workshop while modern manufacturing is often a pipelining industry; Traditional shopping refers to going to a bazaar in one daytime, while modern shopping could be carried out every time in shopping mall or on Internet. The using of technology had made everything seem to be totally different from in the past. Since modernization may carry out and make new perspective at the cost of some parts of tradition, and it is commonly accepted that tradition is difficult to cast off and hard to refuse, so modernization itself is a intense process that invention and destruction coexist.

On the other hand, tradition and modernization may in a harmony sometimes, for many tradition wisdoms are still relevant to modernization and modernization could bring forth new ideas from tradition. The pyramid in front of Louvre Museum is one of the best examples for harmony between tradition and modernization, although it is a modern architecture, its creative inspiration comes from ancient architecture, and now it is a great supplement of Louvre, the traditional palace. Another example, the logo of 2008 Olympic Games, which is a Chinese seal representing credit, comes from the traditional customs. As for tradition, it is important to understand and use it more than abandon or blindly worship it; as for modernization, it is necessary to innovate from tradition more than turn a blind eye to tradition. Therefore, the correct way to modernize a society is to transform or reform its tradition rather than to uproot its tradition.

To sum up, from tradition to modernization, it is a gradually changing process. In the huge tide of modernization which sweep all over the world in a revolutionary way, people could not ignore the basic fact of the traditional essence of human and our lives thousand years.
