I fundamentally agree with the speaker’s proposition that students should take a variety of  courses outside the student’s fields of study .  This proposition can achieve the true aim of university education for the following reasons:
First of all , the aim of the university education is to cultivate students not only in academic fields but also in moral , characters .After all , the knowledge in one specified field only benefits students for a short-time given that knowledge always become outdate with the development of society. However, some valuable characters would influence one for the whole life. Simply put, even a student now has few knowledge in some certain fields , however,one’ diligence , go-aheadlism  would make him/her mater this knowledge quickly in the future. Therefore, shaping students’ character is also important for university. In order to reach this point, a student must be require to  take  various knowledge in politics ,history, philosophy, sociology and so on.  By learning coutless historical  famous people’ stories  ,students know  what characters are merits which should be hold on and what characters are wickedness  which should be spurned. By learning some knowledge in philosophy , students understand how to study effectively.  In short,  acquiring a broad knowledge is a good way for  students  to excel  the future society.
In addition, the outside knowledge of the study field  benefits the study of one’s major. As we know, every subject does not exist independently but be closely related with other subjects.  A economical student cannot understand the economical theory without enough mathematical knowledge. In order to master political principle and analysis political phenomena , a political students must have wide knowledge in socialist, psychology. Recalling the history, the human being history  is repleted with  experts who are not only distinguished in one specified field but also excelled in other fields, such as  Einstein, Benjamin Franklin .  As Einstein says:   it is the music gives him the inspiration of physics .From this ,we can conclude that  outside knowledge of the study field influence one’s achievements in his/her major field directly or indirectly.
However, overextend knowledge  might risking  undermines the aim of university –develop students who are the need of the future society. The man who  have enough knowledge in his/her major  and have abundant knowledge in other fileds  is the one that the society need. If one only dabble in abroad areas , he/she would be hard to assume important  role in the society.

To sum up , according to the analysis above , we can safely conclude that  taking a  variety of courses benefits students in the long-term. Only the students who have wide knowledge can meet the requirement of the society. Certainly, mastering the major’s knowledge profoundly is also necessary.
