It could not be denied that more and more kids feel unhappy in school nowadays. They seem to have numerous reasons for why they hate schools. Many of them complain that the schools do not provide them what they truly desire. For example, Students with excellent academic records consider there is not much they could learn from school while some others wish the teachers could slow down their teaching progress. This phenomenon shows that the traditional education is not highly accepted by the students now and somehow lack of efficiency.

Educators may confuse that why the nation-slandered syllabus is not able to meet the demands of every student. The fact that the diversity of the students, including basis, interests, as well as their abilities, are what the traditional education neglects. Take the English course as an example. In high schools even in universities, the English level of the students varies. Then comes the difficulties of the students who couldn't catch up with the teachers and the complaints of inadequacy from the students who master English quite well. As a result, how to make a compromise becomes the priority to teachers and schools.

Considering the differences between students, the education designed for students seems to be a better choice because the concept of student-oriented education is that the courses will designed specifically based on the every student's needs and interests.

Firstly, since it could meet the individual's need, it is much easier for students to accept. It is said that the interests are the best teachers. Therefore, comparing with the boring compulsory courses, the students may prefer the interesting ones. Moreover, they may consider the courses no longer a burden but a recreation. They will ask more questions, read more supplements and then attain more knowledge with much more efficiency and joy.

Second, the main part of education should be the students. The traditional education couldn't provide students many options. The students are receiver instead of the positive and active part. On the contrary, the student-oriented education focuses on the students themselves. The students' character, interests and abilities have been under consideration when the courses are designed. Then the courses may suit the students better and have better effect.

In additional that the teachers may adjust the courses in time, including the schedule and the syllabus according to the actual situation of the students while put it into practice, in case that the students are not adapted to the courses. But in the traditional education, teachers could only consider and evaluate the majority of students and leaving behind the minority who could not fit the courses. Therefore, the student-oriented education is able to encourage every student regardless their level and backgrounds.

However, there are many difficulties. The insufficient education resources may become the greatest problem. To solve this, the teacher should be a counselor more than an instructor. With the help of developed techniques such as Internet, it is more practical for the teacher to make the proper syllabus and schedule for every student. At the same time, the student can learn more besides the outlines and learn by themselves beyond the traditional teach-and-learn pattern.

Therefore, I agree with the author’s opinion that the education specifically designed for students will be of great help. Not only for the students to master the knowledge but also cultivate the students to clarify what they desire and learn more by themselves as well. As soon as the obstacles are removed, the student-oriented education may replace the traditional education because of its efficiency and advantages.
