Inevitably, the most advanced theories and scientic methods are not mentioned in the textbooks.Thus,faculties have the duty to work outside to discover the changes to keep pace of the modern society.For example,professors and teachers in the aeronautic department should never get themselves engaged completely in the academic world.Instead, they ought to work in the big companies such as Boeing and Airbus.By this means, professors can gain the knowledge of new manufacture technics and advanced concept of aerocraft design. Under this circumstance, they are ale to design the most useful courses for the students.Besides, the more information acquired from the practical world, the more help the faculty could lend to their students to equip them for the future career. Without the practical experience given by their teachers, the students might find it difficult to apply their knowledge within the textbooks to their works when they have graduated from the university. In a word, in certain disciplines, the faculty work outside the academic world might be meaningful and significant.

  However, It should be emphasized that too much practical work outside the academic field might bring about some unexpected negative effects.On the one hand,working outside will occupy a lot of time which is used as research.Due great part to the increased time on the outside work,it would probably result in the decreased energy,time,attention on the faculty's research and teaching in the college and university. Therefore, the faculty don't have enough time and vigor to prepare their teaching and engage in their systemic research.On the other hand, compared with working in the university, working outside would bring more salary to the faculty.Thus, obviously some faculties may take this chance to earn more money instead of gaining some modern idears and values to students. In addition, universities need to seek for a balance between academic research and work on the relevant realms. In college period, a successful mode should open the door to the academic realm and equip students with power to challenge their professinal careers.The duty of universities is to maintain the balance between the two functions.
