I agree with the notion that education will be more effective when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student, however, I do take exception to the further assertion that education will be effective only when it is designed in that way.
Admittedly, an education which is narrowly designed for a few students may produce side effect on other students since some curriculum settings and educational procedures may be contradict with their needs and interests. Every one of us is endowed with unique attributes and qualities and that is what makes us so different from the others. I do believe that each individual is a genius if his potential talent could be brought into play. And education is the very catalyst to inspire those intrinsic advantages and talents if it works in a right way. However, a unitary style of education will definitely fail to suit and meet the complicated inherent desire and interest of every student spring from the innate characteristic.
On the other hand, as far as I am concerned, a deep desire and interest for learning a certain subject is always based on a profound recognition and understanding of this subject, which could only
attained under education unless there is an extremely special experience involved. For instance, a student that never contact with any knowledge of chemistry or only have an ambiguous conception about it could hardly tell whether he or she will get interested in it or whether this subject suits his or her desire. In other words, the proposed education is somehow inapplicable since the individual needs and interests of each student are not easy to identify before the execution of education.
Moreover, it is all but impossible to realize an education with complete equality toward every student. With a strict definition, every student distinguishes from others so that an education designed to meet needs and interests of each student is totally impracticable since you can not design millions of educational plans, which is not avaible allow for the educative resources.
Finally, the effectiveness of education is not merely based on specific purpose for each student but also serves them as a whole on further purpose to improve the function of the society. As a consequence, sometimes individual needs and interests should compromise to the demand of the society, which in my opinion is the ultimate goal of education.
To sum up, education will be more effective when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student while this plan is not applicable for everyone. Therefore, in my view, we could divide the students into certain categories according to their needs and interests and design special educational plans for each kind of them.
