Issue7:The video camera provides such an accurate and convincing record of contemporary life that it has become a more important form of documentation than written records.

提纲：
a 摄像机在普及程度上还不能和书写记录相比。价格贵，使用者需要一定的技术，有些场合不方便携带。
b 摄像机虽然图像清晰，生动，但仅仅是画面的重现。许多东西拍不到，许多内容反映不了，不能仅仅靠它来记录事件。
c 两者应该有机结合，共同为记录历史服务


The video camera, which can save the accurate and convincing images and videos of the life and society, is one representatives of this high-tech world. No doubt, we leave many vivid records with the help of video camera. But we can not draw a conclusion that the video camera has become a more important form of documentation than written records.

Simply speaking, the importance depends on the prevalence. Video are not used as frequently and widely as written records for several reasons. At first, not everyone can afford using video to record. Video camera and cassettes, which costs much more than pen and paper, are expensive for most people, especially in developing nations. Then, how to operate the camera to get clear images skillfully is a problem should not be ignored. Compared with the former, written records are easy to make and to revise. Moreover, the written document is a far more convenient method of recording in many occasions where camera is not suitable to take with.

Though video camera has the technologic advantage in showing certain affairs and phenomena as they have recurred, it cannot competently provide interpretation of the event and insight into the mind. As a famous medium master once said, a documentation form which used to historify must possess two characteristics: one is to truly reflect history; the other is to annotate history properly. In my opinion, the video, from the above two aspects, is not superior to written documentation. The video records the history selectively for its high cost and its limitation so that it can not reflect the entire affairs. Many stories are not been captured by cameras when them on and quite a few event happened secretly are unwatchable. What we acquired in video are always only some episodes from the whole history. We also need a large amount of information behind the images, such as the background, the associations with other affairs, the influence and even the intrapersonal feeling of the person involved in. Written documents have predominance in such interpretation fields.

It can not deny that the video has its merits. As far as I am concerned, we should make good use of technology without abandoning traditional methods. These two media can build upon one another, resulting in a multimedia testimony to modern life. History is a text book which human learn to realize ourselves and learn to develop. But history is not merely consists of the images or videos which reflects the history affairs. There are also many written stories recorded to constitute the accurate and wonderful history.
