Admittedly, I concede television can provide a large amount of information. However, reading books is still important, if not more important, than it was before. Thus the speaker overrates the comparative significance of television over book-reading.

Today, people can learn so much of the world without even stepping out the house, which partly due to the function of television. For example, television stations offer news sections, from which we can know what has happened today from the local area to places opposite of the earth. Besides, sports section can offer sports fans on-the-time contests, so that people from all the places can enjoy their favorite sports at the same time. There are many other examples, such as fashion shows, which can lead strong support to the state that television can enable people to learn much of the world at the present as well.

Moreover, more and more TV stations begin to provide television programs from which one can learn so much that a book can not be compared with. For instance, some programs show you how to cook delicious food, some can teach you how to dance, some television programs can even provide more up-to-date information on how to paint a blue picture for your future. Moreover, though television programs like Discovery and National Geographic, one can learn even more of the wonderful world, both human's and animals'. Students majoring in a certain language can learn much more about the use of the language and the relevant information about the culture than that form a book.

Although television can provide us so much benefit mentioned above, yet reading books can also benefits you a lot. First, as written documentation can add dimension to our life and times, though reading books, we can encounter other people's deed, ideas, opinions, and subjective state of mind, not only people today but the past ones who once lived on the earth. We can learn the scientific dust of the famous clash between Galileo and the Inquisition. And, when it comes to the documentation of law, such as, on reach of agreement or terms of incorporation, books is obviously superior to television. Television is of no use when it comes to document complicate items and numerous statistics.

Furthermore, books have its own especial inherent advantages. Books are traditional source of wisdom, which is purchasable to anyone including people without a TV set. Besides, books are wells of wisdom which can be handed down one generation to other. Besides, books can get in touch of areas which cannot receive television signals. And they also can be taken form one place to another freely and easily. These are the advantages that television does not have.

To sum up, the speaker overstates the importance of television. When it comes to the most up-to-date information, or events which moving images are central to, television is much superior to books. However, books can add dimension to the world around us, and have its own unique benefits, making it important to our human beings, not only today but in the history of human species.
