Someone said that it is artist, but not thecritic, gives society something of permanent values. However, I disagree withthis assertion. We cannot separate artist with critic. They both play anirreplaceable role in create and appreciate the emotion and superiorsadvantages of artist work, which including something of lasting value, whichdefined as the emotion and the moral expressed by the artist work specificallythe production of the beautiful in a graphic or plastic medium.

Undoubtedly, originality is an important skillfor artist. From the Renaissance up to now, the celebrated artist works are allhave a characteristic that created by originative artist. An artist, whooccasionally has creative idea about his\her work, will create some valuingworks which often hidden emotion or moral that has lasting value to societymore or less. Percy Bysshe Shelley, and his “Ode to the west wind” symbolizethe storm of revolution at that time. Meanwhile, “Ode to the west wind” brings societynumerous values from then to now.

Admittedly, an excellent artist should haveuniqueness, which can guidance people to choose the work from plentifulartistic productions, as well as originality. A unique art of work not onlybring people a blasting of beauty but also provide something of lasting values.Dan Vinci and his Mona Lisa with eternal and mysterious smile, vivid andrealistic Night Watch by Rembrandt, dramatic and colorful Liberty Leading thePeople by Delacroix, which experienced examination for thousands of years, arestill be the curiosa nowadays due to each of these productions are owningunique advantages to fasten people’s attention from generation to another.

Therefore, critics, wholead people to appreciate the emotion, moral and the uniqueness hidden in theartistic productions, are playing an irreplaceable role. First, it is critic thatbrings people attention to the artistic work and help people understand itwell. As we know, few people have capable to tell the excellent from abundantartistic production, let alone to understand them perfectly. It is critic, whomay not have talent as well as artist, helps populaces use an accurate andgeneral vision for arts. Consequently, we can experience the lasting value liesin the artistic work. Second, critics are discovering and picking out one with shiningpoints from a mass of artistic products with single-eyed. Then the work willbecome to be an invaluable one. Thus, artists are inspirited to create moreexcellent works. In a sense, something of lasting value wouldn’t becomeambiguous with the help of critics.

In brief, artists create the value of theaesthetic work; meanwhile, critics discover the value hidden in the artisticworks. Thus, both of artist and critic are playing an important role whenreferred to something of lasting value.
