TOPIC: ISSUE51 - "Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student."

Nowadays, education plays an important role in people’s life and people place more and more emphasis on education, there is a controversy on how to find the most effective way to educate our children. And the speaker asserts that education will not be truly effective if it’s not specifically designed to cater the individual needs and interests of each student. I concede that education will be more effective if it pays more attention to student’s needs and interests if circumstances permit.

To begin with, the education specifically designed will restrict range what the student will learn, so the knowledge of the student will be narrow and limited. And it can not lead the education be truly effective. As we known, the eruditely knowledge structure is based on the large and comprehensive knowledge, if the education which has been specially designed, that is to say, the student can not have an broad recognize on what they have learned. Consider, if we give the student the chance to select what they want to learn according to their own interest and needs, many interests of the student may be whims any without purpose or plan. Thus, it is doubt that they can persist. There is another problem that since the students is aimless, the progress of learning is not systematic and without instruction. In addition, the student lack capacity of judgment, unless they develop their own ability to tell the right from wrong, the educator should not allow the students what they want.

Secondly, while we consider the education pattern, it seems to be unpractical. Because it does not take account the current educational recourses. Compare to the numerous students, the teacher recourse is too limited, and the labs and the other facility is the same.  If education specifically designed require the teacher to arrange the plan for every student according their interests and needs. It will take a large mount of time of teacher who otherwise improve their teaching level and impart the knowledge to wide range of students. What’s more, the education will make the evaluation system meet great challenge, the educator must to establish different criterion to evaluation the student who choose what they want to learn by their needs and interest. Under such condition, one can hardly look forward to any improvement of effectiveness.

However, the education specifically designed is unavailable to every student. We can not undermine the positive influence of the students’ needs and interest on improving the effectiveness. The education specifically designed can inspire the mind of student, with which the student can learn effective and endurance. For example, students in the school which can provide more choice may have a broad knowledge and may innovate than the students who in the school which recourse is too limited. Thus, if the school has the condition offer the student, the student will have a broad knowledge.

To sum up, to better our students and our country, we should pay more attention on the students’ needs and interests. On in this way, we can make our education more effectiveness.
