研究、学习历史具有其自身的价值仅仅在于它和我们的日常生活相关联。

1．  研究、学习历史对社会很重要
2．  它与人们的生活也相关
3．  除此之外，学习、研究历史还有其他的价值，比如促进人们对道德的理解

In my opinion, history can provideexamples, perspectives and insight that are indirectly relevant to contemporarychallenge. In other word, I don’t agree with the assertion author said thatunless it relevant to our daily lives, the research of history has no value atall.

History, which not only include the famoushistory events or the history of a nation or the mankind, but also means thepast of a common person, has undisputable worth to a nation so much as thewhole humankind. Take an important human phenomenon such as alcoholism.Alcoholism, as a social reality, has a history: rates of alcoholism have risenand fallen, and they have varied from one group to the next. Attitudes andpolicies about alcoholism have also changed and varied. History isindispensable to understanding why such changes occur. And in many ways historicalanalysis is a more challenging kind of exploration than any other experiment.In brief, the study of history is worthy to society.

Furthermore, the study of history plays an irreplaceablerole relevant to people’s own lives. History well told is beautiful. Biographyand military history appeal in part because of the tales they contain. Storieswell done are stories that reveal how people and societies have actuallyfunctioned, and they prompt thoughts about the human experience in other timesand places. Exploring what historians sometimes call the “pastness of the past”-theways people in distant ages constructed their lives-involves a sense of beautyand ultimately another perspective on human life and society.

In addition, studying history has otherfunction relevant to society and communities. For example, history provides aterrain for moral contemplation. Studying the stories of individuals andsituations in the past allows student of history to test his\her own moralsense, to hone it against some of the real complexities individuals have facesin difficult settings. “History teaching by example” is one phrase thatdescribes this use of a study of the past-a study not only of certifiableheroes, the superstars who successfully worked through moral dilemmas, but alsoof more ordinary people who provide lessons in courage, diligence, orconstructive protest.

To sum up, the study of history not merelyhas worthy of itself, it also provide value to public’s life and prompt people’sawareness about moral for instance.  （这个结尾我也觉得太短了，但是该怎么结尾真的不知道了。。。原谅我啊！）
