Is individuality or conformity contributes to personal economical success? The speaker asserts that personal economical success requires conformity. In my viewpoint, personal economical success requires the combination of individuality and conformity.

Admittedly, conformity plays an important role in personal success. Conformity refers to that one must conform to some fundamental principle, social moral, laws, interest of group or the whole nation and so no. Firstly, the social moral and laws is the guarantee of a well-being society. When one violate it, he/she would necessarily be punished not mention not gain economic success. Take a business man for example, if he/she products inferior merchandise to make money, ultimately, public would discover this illegal action and refuse to purchase his/her products even government should punish him/her according to related laws. In addition, group’s interest is the base of personal economical success. In modern society, the accomplishment of one work usually needs many people to join in. For instance, the development of large software often needs thousands of engineers. For this software group, they have their aim, plan and rules. If one engineer among them disobey their rules, it is highly possible that the group can not finish their work. Finally, both the interests of group and individual would be damaged.

At the same time, individuality is also indispensable for the personal economic success especially in business field. Individuality refers to some characters which are different with normal. To some extents, the process of social development is a process that human being generates or discovers new things more and more again. Therefore, those non-conformists usually have the ability to become the man who leads the new social trend. Bill Gates is an apt example to illustrate this point. Bill Gates gave up the opportunity to study in the world’s No.1 University-Harvard and started the engine of Microsoft. Although many people in that time can not understand him, years later, Microsoft dominates the PC market with its operating systems, such as MS-MOS, and Windows and becomes the biggest software company. Bill Gates becomes the richest man in the world. From this example, it is Bill Gates’ non-conformity that greatly contributes to his success.

In the final analysis, the combination of individuality and conformity is the best to make a success for everyone.. Individuality and conformity are not mutually exclusive but embrace each other. On one hand, Conformity makes the society we lived harmonious and makes the interests of group be achieved which is the precondition of a personal success. For instance, even though Bill Gates’ success is closed related with his innovation spirit, it is the result of Bill Gates conforms to some social and economical rules. On the other hand, individuality is also crucial to personal success. Without individuality, it is hard for one to be distinguished with others.

From what has been discussed, we can safely make a conclusion that both individuality and conformity are important for personal success. The best way to success is pursue individuality on the basis of conformity.
