Although I concede that there are many differences between nowadays and the past, on balance, I hold the opinion that studying history can provide guidance not only to our daily lives, but also for the development of individuals, different areas of our society, and for the well-being of our society as well.

To begin with, as various parts of the world are closely connected by more and more electric wires and hundreds of thousands of computers, the world today appears to be totally different from it was before. With the invention of washing machines and other innovations, an increasing number of women are involved in occupations in today's modern world, which also gives rises to the problem of feminism. Moreover, with the advanced improvement of atomic investigation and of chemistry, people can make use of new energy and to further develop our industry and society. However, going hand in hand with these developments is the danger of new weapon to shatter men's bodies and harm the society to the extent that it may ruin its existence. All these states above as well as not-mentioned conditions are different form the past. Yet, study of history still has value today as stated below.

In the first place, to make use of experience provided by historical persons can help us to recognize us better and provide guidance for our self-education.
For one thing, to get clear view of history, we all know that we are timid to face dangerous situation or difficulties. Thus, we need not blame ourselves for all sorts of negative feelings so far as they are naturally springing from the nature of our species. For another, studying history can provide information about how our forebears deal with these problematic feelings. We can therefore, equipped with the wisdom of our forebears, solve our problems, no matter relevant to our daily lives or just related to academia.

In the second place, the study of history can prevent us form making the same mistake again. As we all know, with the coming of industrial revolution, our environment began to suffer form increasing pollution, for whatever reasons brought by human beings. Nowadays, when our factory owner makes a decision, it is required by law that influence to the environment should also be taken into consideration. Indeed, the study of history informs us that we cannot develop economy at the expense of our environment which is threatened to the extent that it may endanger the well-being of our humans as a species.

Finally, getting a better view of history helps us to ensure the well-being of our democratic nations as well. For example, after the review of the details on Watergate scandal of Nixon, we realize the importance of presidential moral. Besides, history can help our leaders to make decisions which may determine the future of our nations. Moreover, it is by compared with the past that we can get a convincing view of developments today.

To sum up, by claim that history only has value when it is related to daily lives, the speaker overlooks the mass benefits that the study of history can provide us, not only on the daily issues but also something else. In the final analysis, history provides guidance to individuals, some realms like business, and to the development of our nation as well.
