In the modern world today, one can rely on the video camera together with written records to document our life and times. When questioning which one-the video camera or the written record- is better, one needs to consider comprehensively. In my point of view, on balance, these two means each in its own way is superior to another.

To begin with, I fundamentally agree with the speaker insofar as the video camera can provides such an accurate and convincing record of our life and times. Turning first to the point that camera record is more accurate than a written record. Needless to say, no one-no matter how keen an observer or how skilled an author- can document every detail in an event such as a football match, a music concert, or a wedding party. Besides, a written record can hardly convey the power of the nature-demonstrated in a storm, a tornado, or a hurricane- as effectively as a camera tape to people. On the other hand, however, what a video camera can provide are the vivid moving images and detailed information so that the written documents cannot compare.

As for the claim that video records are more convincing than a written document, one needs only to turn to a surveillance camera for support. Can written records render more convincing and powerful evidence on such event as malpractice in a hospital operating room, drag trafficking, misconduct of policemen, or the evidence of employees playing at work, than a video record? As common sense informs us, even on the count, video record is more convincing evidence than a written record which can be forged without too much effort. Indeed, when it comes to moving images and temporal or special events, video camera is inherently superior to a written document.

Nevertheless, when admiring the advantages of video camera, one should not overlook the merits of written records. As we all know that, written records especially books are wells of wisdom which are generally used to impart knowledge to us form the beginning of life to the end. Besides, the wisdom form our forebears long ago can be documented on written records so that we today can used it to cultivate ourselves, while the video camera cannot convey the knowledge of wisdom as effectively as the books or other forms of written records. Moreover, when it comes to document the terms of laws or the agreement between corporations, video camera is virtually of no use. At this time, written records are apparently useful than a video record.

Furthermore, one reason for me to consider written records are useful than video camera is when it comes to the utilization of both means of document. Consider, when you need to grasp information from a video tape, you need to rely on a video machine calling for electricity which might be un-existent in certain areas. On the other hand, however, you can refer to a written record almost with no boundary. Moreover, one can take a written record wherever with you to refer to it, while a video machine which used to perform a video tape can hardly be taken wherever with you.

In sum, the speaker overrates the comparative significance of video camera, while at the same time overlooks the preeminent importance of written records. In the final analysis, when it comes to temporal and special event, a video tape can render more accurate and convincing information, while on the other hand, a written record is more convenience and more useful in fore-stated aspects.
