Is reading books not as important as it once was? The speaker claims so, for the reason that people can learn as much by watching television as they can by reading books. I fundamentally agree that, TV has make the proceeds of learning easier than before, and further more, because of using TV which holds more information than book does, we can learn much more than early time.

First, the amount of information which TV shows to audience in day and night is far more than that reading from books. A survey on the newspaper of my university which is based on our university shows that the reading speed of students in arrange is 500 more Chinese words per minute  if one is reading a technology paper, and it will take 2 or 3 days to read over the paper by this speed. But if the paper is recorded into a TV program with experiment and explain speaker in it, it will take only 2 hours to understand the article because it holds much more information in the TV program per minute than reading does. So TV helps us to get more through the fast information showing.

Further more, the TV program can be easily accepted for TV changes the words into alive pictures. The way a TV program showing is by video and audio, and what is more, the information which the TV program collected often shows like a story, and this kind of media is named as movie. To learn history one should read hundreds of books in different time; however, it is possible to learn a piece of history by watching a movie in several hours. For example, the history from D-Day to the end of World War II is recorded into many books, but a movie named Band of Brother performs that in only 10 hours. So TV makes the doll knowledge into living one.

In another hand, TV is not mainly used for learning; people in more time use it as a tool for having fun or even for time-killing. The TV program which is showed from TV station has less uses for learning, unlike books. For example, the programs will not exclude from news, advertisement, singing or dancing performance, movies or cartoon, etc. Further more; there is only a small amount of programs which are designed for study, for example the Discory and National Geography. So the TV is used for enjoyment rather than studying, and therefore, it is impossible to say that reading book is less important as it once was, where we mainly learn is from books.

In sum, as the time TV is absorbed into our life, we have learn more and easier than before, but TV is still a tools for fun and killing time, it will never take place of reading.
