In the age of high technology, television, as an indispensable appliance, has come into majorities of home. People can relax themselves and learn whatever they are interested in through them. However, I do not agree with the viewpoint that reading books is not as important as it once was. After all, books also have many merits which televisions can not match.

Undoubtedly, televisions have played an important role in our life. We enjoy ourselves with televisions. The television takes us into vivid cartoon world during our childhood. We also taste   MTV, sport match lively and etc to meet our interests. And even we watch televisions to kill time.  Without televisions, the life may lose some joys. Moreover, televisions are utilized as a tool to obtain information outsides. Since the television comes out, people have been access to the world more convenient and faster than ever before. If we are worried about no place to go tourism, watching program of tour is a good choice. Election for president also needs televisions to spread lively speech to voters. Even now we can not help ourselves to open TV as soon as we arrive home. The television has been an essential part of our live.

Nonetheless, is it true that we learn more from televisions than from books nowadays? In my view, books are still the most leading tools for us to study. Let alone our having been accustomed with books from our early ages, books take possession of large amount of preponderances. Large volume and easy to carry, are obvious advantages which are fit for learning. Sometimes just one book is enough to carry a majority of a subject, which is convenient for us to look over. Besides, because of easy to carry along, whenever and wherever we want to start learning, we can open books at hand. Out of question, with these merits, books are indispensable for us to learn.

Furthermore, in some aspects, books can not be instead of by televisions at all. First of all, the information of the televisions spread to us flashes away, and even leaves us no impression at all while books can preserve knowledge. When we forget some knowledge we have learned before, we can learn a second. Especially for normal study, nearly impossible that we can master what we learn just one time, hence books are superior to televisions at the point. What’s more, when it comes to literature, compared with televisions, the advantage of books is much clearer. Literature need image, on the contrary, the characteristics of televisions is vivid. When televisions convey everything to us directly, nothing worthy of our imagining, the elite of the literature can not be exhibited. With books, we can experience the profound of the words, drunk in the description of views such as mounts, lakes and oceans. Indeed the status of the book can not be taken place of by televisions at the current time.

In sum, televisions and books have their own merits to our life. We can learn much from the both. Meanwhile, considering disparate preponderances of them, we should utilize them as different tools to serve our life. In short, we should use both the television and the book in the day.
