TOPIC: ISSUE43 - "To be an effective leader, a public official must maintain the highest ethical and moral standards."


Generally, I agree with the author's view that a high level of ethical and moral are necessary conditions for being a leader. However, the "highest" is so absolutly that it is not comformed with my view.

On one hand, a leader should possess a high level of ethical and moral standards in order to lead the nation effectively and  as a great
model for the public. First, it is turly that just due to the nobel moral of the leader wins the belief and respectation of the nation, which
is a common sense for us. Without the moral and ethical for leader, it is impossible that he or she could advance the whole country
because the moral and ethical are foundation conditions to be human beings, without this it is doubtable that the leader could gain how many success and achievements. One particular case is George Washington, the father of the United States, who preserved a relatively high ethic and morolity, therefore gained widespread popular among American people. successfully let the Americans to fight against
those English colonists and finally founded the US. This example show a power evidence to illustrate that theimportace for a leader in his politic life.

On the contray, without a high ethical and moral standard, an official is doomed to fail to play his public role , to destroy the leader's
political career and even worse, to spell disasters on the general public. In the busniss field , it is obvious that the short of morality for a manager could fail to success sooner or later, besides to make the large profits , creating the culture for his busniss is also significant, only give a comfortable as well as high level of commerce quality for the  workers can let the development in a long run.

A leader is not a moralist who also is a ordinary person, one who may get confused and make mistakes from time to time. And thus could not prevent public to consider him as a great leader. For instance, Bill Clinton, who was trapped in the sex scandal with Monica Lewinsky, but the US public people still respect him for he bring the economic increaseing to the nation.

Furthermore , to be a successful leader, some other capacitises such as wisdom, hardworking, kindheart, tolerance, justice and courage
could not be ignored.Such as the examples , one need no further than Abraham Lincoln, FOR, JKF, and Winston Churchill, who are
fortunate enough to preserve all of the god-given gifts and get ahead in their opinions.  To think about the historic power man, who
without the above abilities, it is unimaginable that one can even win the election, let alone be an effevtive leader.

To sum up, relatively high ethical and moral standards are significant for one to be a effective leader. However, we can not
overemphasize the one has to keep the highest level. Meanwhile , some other factors would not be ignored.
