Do the scandals can concentrate publicattention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer ever could? Thespeaker claims so, but I do not agree the claim under all circumstances.Otherwise, from my point of view in some circumstances the scandals can bringabout negative effects on the concerned problems and the situation maybe muchworse than the speaker or reformer ever assumes.

Scandals indeed produce great influence onthe public attention for the reason that the mass have certain nature in humancharacter to inquiry what happens in the issues which are concerned by thesociety. For supporting examples, one need look no further than the soccer. In Italy soccerleague, there are many scandals, such as the unfair matches, the refereescontrolling the scores. And, after the media report the facts, there will betoo many concerns and attentions which cannot be concentrated by the socceritself. Thus, it is through the scandal that there are more attention focusedon the problems.

It is not always get , however, a beneficialeffect about the problems all the time, the scandals will bring out somenegative effect and there will be certain obstacle which the speaker orreformer must take into account when they use the scandals to focus publicconcerns on their endeavor, whether in politics, academic, or other areas.

In politics area, there are many scandalsabout the leader of one country or one of the important departments. Take forexample, the scandal of Watergate in Unites States and the     Clinton's sexual scandal. When the public know a deluge offacts which disappoint them, they wil have doubts about their country' leadersand the populace, as the case may be, will lose heart with the leader, in thatthe populace usually consider the leader of their country to be a prominentperson not only at professional level but at the moral level. Thus, results ofthe poll about the president will show that the percentages of people who infavor of the leader is bound to go down, that is, there are fewer and fewerpeople who support the leader with scandals.

In the endeavor of science, there are alsosimilar phenomenon. One of the striking instances is that one biologicalprofessor, who was working at some university in Korea, is involved in an academicscandal which is about the fabricated experimental data and results. After thenews spread on the Internet, the papers on biology have been refused by most ofthe Magazines and conferences on the biological science. Therefore, thescandals have produced negative effect to the confidence from the others. And,the public take the other biological achievements with more skepticism thanthey are deserved, which is not hoped by the scientists.

  To sum up, in aqualified sense scandals indeed can focus much more attention on the problemsthan could the speaker or reformer, if ever. However, the attention and theeffects are not always the positive ones, and the endeavor is likely to suffer a fate with troubles.
