请问BGSU的MA of Economics怎么样

Hi, first congratulations to you guys! I am now a graduate student in economics department. The scholarship is not so much since our department is poor. :) However, the fortunate thing is that it covers all your tution fees. So you just need to spend another $4000 dollars per year for living. I know you guys all want to know the placement about our department, I'd like to tell you some details.

1: Most chinese students in our department would pursue a double degree in both economics and statistics or accounting. Since it is good for job hunting with statistics and accounting. With only economics degree, it is hard to get a job after graduation. But let me tell you some exciting information.

2: Each year there are chinese students here can get decent phd offers in Finance after you get the degree, but you should have a high GPA. Each course about 30%-40% student can get A. Each year the department accept 7-8 new students, 40% students here are Chinese and 40% are Americans and 20% are International except Chinese. :)

3: Each year there are two chinese students from statistics department can get offers in biostat from university of Michigan, so if you pursue a double degree, you have the chance to get.

4. Each year, Chinese students with Statistics degree or accounting degree can find a job after graduation with salary around $5W-6w per year. If you don't want pursue a phd degree or you are not strong enough. It is still have some other choices. The strong students in economics like to pursue a phd degree in Finance as you know, Finance is good for making money. :)

5. Most professors here are very nice, Dr. Timothy Fuerst graduated from University of Chicago and teach our Macroeconomics. Other professors are also decent.

6. Suggestions: if you get a better ad and money is not a issue for your family, go to a better school. Otherwise, choose BGSU even you are not satisfied with its location and overall reputation, you do have lots of choices after graduation if you study hard here.

Hey, WWISCASEY, I just saw you got the offer from Kent state. I would sat whether the overall reputation or the palcement of department, our university is better than KSU. If you have to choose one between these two. I strongly recommend you to take BGSU's offer.

Let me say this, last year, two Chinese students who graduated from economics department got the phd offers in Finance from ASU, TAMU, IOWA, Vandebilt, Colorado-boulder etc. This year a Chinese student got the phd offers in Finance from Wisonsion-madision, University of Florida. Notice that each year only 3-4 Chinese students are accepted by our program. I can say that these placement can compare to a master program in a top 50 university if you know how hard it is to get a phd offer in Finance. I guess Kevinhrm should also know this.

I didn't say that KSU is not good since I even applied their MFE program this year. So you know my comments is really objective.

And the placement records for next year depend on your guys.

LS的这位同学好好，赞一下。我也在考虑去BGSU，不过不是Econ，是communication studies的master，我想问一下，tuition weaver plus 8500的stipend是不是够用了呀？主要让我烦恼的是这个master是一年的，我怕一年还没适应过来就完了。。。请问一下找工作的话，是都在ohio吗？谢谢啦~~:)
