Frankly speaking, the school sent two or three more offers than the origanl quota and listed N replacements on the WL.
So, you probably need to prepare for the next year's application unless you are ranked at the very top of the WL.
I am still on U penn's waitlist for econ PHD. Although I was told that I was ranked fairly high which is the reason I was still waiting, I received an email about two hours ago that told me "We now know the outcomes of most of the offers that we have made. Our yield rate has been higher than expected, which means that we will have a very strong entering class. But it also means that there is no probability that we will be able to accept you with first-year funding." So good bye U Penn, at least I tried and I have no regret now.
well, I withdraw from U Penn's waitlist because they could not provide first year's funding. This year they could only provide funding for about 12 applicants.
However, if your parents could pay the first year's tuition and living cost for you, maybe you could go there..and survive.

Never, I don't think I can handle that kind of pressure and that's selfish.
