[In] some countries require the elementary secondary students to learn the same national curriculum, such as Japan, German etc, while in other countries, secondary students indifferent schools learn diverse curriculum. In my view, it depends [on], a national core curriculum should be stipulated by government, while the rest should be decided by schools.
In the first place, to [a] well-round developed people, [they] need learn some basic subjects, such as linguistic[languagues或lingusitics], mathematics etc, so these subjects should be specified by government. For example, American Congress passed the National Defense Education Act of 1958 and the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965. In these two landmark statutes, Congress addresses the problem as improving instruction in pivotal but usually neglected subjects, such as science, mathematics and foreign languages. Unquestionably, nations should immerse their effort to ensure all schools offer basic subjects to students.
Besides a national curriculum serves to cultivate [civil civilized] citizen, which is an important mission of education. A civilized citizen should have notion of democracy, spirit of patriotism etc[,] which contribute to maintain the cohesion of a nation. Via [a] national curriculum, a nation can impart its history, culture and dominant ideology to students to cultivate them to civilized citizens. In that sense a national curriculum is an efficient strategy to ensure a nation prosperous[the prosperity of a nation].
In the second place, as everyone see[s], America, a polynary country, involves diverse committees belonging to specific race , specific religion. The traditional culture of every race and every region should be respected, in that sense, nations should entitle schools to design their own curriculum to maintain their own traditional culture andreligion belief. For example, in the committee where dwell [ dwell 是不及物动词,改个别的?]Moslem, the curriculum should involve Koran. In addition, because the residents in different committee often have diverse native language[s], the school should offer the native language for the posterity of migrants. As a nation which respects multiculturalism, America should endow schools in different districts the right to decide their own curriculum.
In conclusion, a[n] effective education system[,] should ensure not only that most students would achieve a well-round development, but also that every race’s traditional culture and every religion’s relief are respected adequately, at the same time, every school can make gook use of r their advance to cultivate students more efficiently. So nation should specify a national core curriculum [while] the rest should be decided by schools. |
