Do you agree or disagree pets should be treated like family members?
Tradition has it that animals have been turned pets for human for a long time. Nowadays, the variety of pets is booming ranging from small agile parrots to ferocious brutal tigers. Undoubtedly, pets’ rights have been put onto the agenda with more and more people petition for the status enhancement of the pets. On the whole, I firmly support the idea that pets should be treated like family members.
While there is a growing tendency for some people to treat animals cruelly as walking-meat and running-fur, I deem highly that animals are born equally to human beings. And hope must seem boundless to them to lead a placid life as they know no discriminations, followed the seasons, delighted in fighting and deferred to no man. Believing themselves to be equal to humans, they just cheerfully relish the hope that they will live in harmony with humankind, their neighbor. And they should share the same rights such as predating, mating, breeding, and when animals somehow become pets, their rights are indeed unchangeable.
Furthermore, acting on the premise that we love animals, we decide to adopt pets which continuously give us happiness and stimulate our sympathy. For example, I am in favor of cats, and once I adopted a lovely catling. Never will I forget the days when he is badly ill with his eyes tightly closed and inconsistent mewing, I was so anxious that I spent whole day companying him providing delicate pets food and cats’ medicine in the hope that he will recover soon. Treating him like a family member, I naturally realized an unavoidable responsibility and a potential affection deeply rooted in my heart. Knowing the fact that I love him, I would take no pains to care him until the day he finally restored.
Considering on the two reasons mentioned above, it is indispensable to treat the animal like our family members, not only for equality, but for the innate affection as well.
