"There are two types of laws: just and unjust. Every individual in a society has a responsibility to obey just laws and, even more importantly, to disobey and resist unjust laws."
For one thing, actually you can never say that it is just or unjust, because anything is a double-edged sword, which have advantage and disadvantage, so is law. To some people, some law is just, while to other people, it is not. But most of laws are accepted by us, this only prove that law is just for most of us. Regulating our society rely on law is what we do all the times, from early time of mankind to now. In almost all the people eyes, law equals fairness. To law, we definitely believe it will let us live in a just society. It seems to never be aberrancy, then what drive us amending and changing our laws in order to maintain our so-called fairness? Private property and moral.
Totally, our desire to private property create moral. To be frank, moral is a very socialized thing, which embody as mental norms. To human beings, as a kind of animal, the prime mission is survival, but when their food is enough, protecting private property is the most important thing. That time, a group of people, usually a tribe, would come to consensus to maintain their belongings. Gradually moral took shape.
Moral, as social basic norm, is what regulate our society and our behavior no matter past or now. It is accepted and recognized by most people, which tell people what they can do, what can be not done, what is just, what is not. In original society, without real law, moral became the norm of society. The universally acknowledged sages or leader distributed the food and land all the members of the tribe got equally. They did not think the sage and leader themselves is fair, while the moral rule planted in their brain let them believe that equal distribution was right. Later, moral, the thinking existed in people’s brain, was written down, that is, law. Of course, not all moral norms are recorded on the papers, therefore some unjust laws are enacted which benefit a few part of people. That time, moral started to work. Most of people would require amend or abolish those unjust laws through uprising or insurgence. Hereby, although maintain our justice is every individual’s responsibility, it is a spontaneous process due most partly to moral is accommodating.
In a word, our thoughts decide our behavior, we will disobey and resist those unjust laws, but in the world, many things we can not control, like change of laws, is a natural process with social development.
