The primary describing part of the lecture is about the disagreement of altruism, directly contradicting the opinion that altruism is a kind of quality sacrificing oneself while gaining nothing beneficial, which is stated in the reading passage.

To begin with, the point of view reflected by the lecturer mentions that people who are considered having altruism elevate their status and gain their reputation by donating .This typically explain why the speaker oppose the issue made in the passage that people sacrifice themselves with nothing gained.

Moreover, an instance is being used for supporting altuism in the passage that meerkat, kind of animal which has the discipline of arranging guard while the most are eating or doing sth. However, the lecturer explains that the guardian meerkat eat before doing alarming job, that is, with full stomach the meerkat take the scout position. In addition, the guardian has the best chance to escape while endangered for its privilege to see the predator first, and the apparent action of the hordes gathering also attract the attention of predator, which makes more possibility for the guardian to escape itself.

In conclusion, the contents of the passage are inevitably jeopardized by the lecturer. The lecturer indicates quite different idea that human beings and animals really obtain sth by being so called unselfish insdead of having altruism, which is the main issue of the passage.

According to the reading passage, altruism means that sacrificing one's own interest for that of others. Some examples of both humans and animals are given. However, the lecturer points out that examples given in reading passage can not illustrate altruism properly.

First, some researches had a close study of the eating habit of meerkat. The sentinel meerkat has a full stomach before standing guard and looking out for predators, which contradict to the reading passage that the sentinel standing guard hungry while other meerkats hunt for food or eat food.

Second, the lecturer states the sentinel meerkat would escape if the predators approach. The sentinel would give alarm to other meerkats. After receiving the alarm, meerkats may gather together or move about everywhere. Instead of gaining nothing and being in danger as mentioned in the reading passage, the sentinel meerkat is actually full and safe.

Third, when considering humans, mentioned by the lecturer, the person who donates his or her body organs to family members or even to strangers will receive public approvals. His or her self-worth is also increased. In such cases, the donation act receives reward not only from the recipient but also from the public. Nevertheless, the reading passage said the donator benefits nothing for his or herself.
