"There are two types of laws: just and unjust. Every individual in a society has a responsibility to obey just laws and, even more importantly, to disobey and resist unjust laws."
The law, as a man-made tool, is a norm and conception which aims at conducting social behaviors. Its essence is to sacrifice little people’s interests for the better of the majority, and giving an impulse to the social progress. Yet different minds contain various considerations about so many law clauses, from own perspective of benefits and standpoint, the judgment of some items’ justice is inclined to be influenced when considered with individual subjective views.
For the most important, obey the law takes a principal role in making our social machine an efficient and secure performance, everyone has a responsibility to comply with laws. Since the law is created with the purpose to make a relative just circumstance by national legislative, if someone breaks it he is violating majority citizen’s will. As we all know, the country of Iraq has a contrastive low secure index, so many criminals in this nation makes his law system hard to maintain, consequently it brings us a terrible imagination in our minds. Every individual would like to live in a peaceful and fair community.
However, since the law is a man-made instrument, it also has a limitation. Not all clauses are commonly accepted in different cultures and various personal considerations. To support what I say, you will find that there are some codices of discrimination to females in the Mid-East Muslim countries, but they can’t find their way in western nations whose law is based on the human rights. To individual, a kidnapper would not think his behave as a terrible one when we want to give him a harsh penalty he deserved. When we obey most part of the laws we shouldn’t resist the one we think is unjust only with our personal sense, that’s blindly and thoughtless, because unjust law seems like a subjective conception which is complicated to define.
But there are some law points that could not catch up with the needs of the developing modern life, which constrain people’s activities and social productivity. This situation is more likely to happen when a society is located at a crucial cross of transform or revolution; the existent laws can’t be accepted by the rapid changing condition. There are two possible solutions; first, if the government has a smart operation, they will amend these clauses to keep the pace with time. Another case is the government won’t work in the consideration of self behalf, even they may impose them on the whole country. And then, citizens must learn how to reject them, only through disobedience and struggle can they receive the rights they deserved; here it will turn out to be the most important. In the old times of China, when the dominator of an empire used some rigorous rules to govern, usually they would be overthrew by demos who can no longer lead their life with the oppressive condition, these rejection also promote the development of society.
In sum, every individual has his owe comprehension of just and unjust around the topic of law, and in most conditions, the law should be complied for running its function better, and this is everyone’s responsibility. However, when confront with the negative items which show the unjust to us, we need to fight for our rights bravely if the government takes no notice on them. |
