From comparison of homework scores of the primary students to the departmental ranking of university students, from fast running for bigger fruits of the prehistoric man to the athlete competition nowadays, from striving growth of grains from weeds in ancient times to challenging the highest mountains of the worlds, competition always exists. With strenuous competition, we make full use of our energy, intelligence and capacity, contributing to the expanding of the society and achieving personal objectives. Therefore, it is obvious that competitions are more beneficial to the society. (感觉开头满好,领教了,呵呵)
To begin with, it is the competition between human beings and the severe nature environment(that,好象不能省吧?) makes our dreams of modernization and industrialization come true. Without competitions with myriads brutal animals in the forests, our predecessors cannot have enough food to survive, nor can they explore caves to live in. Without competitions with the extreme cold, no footprint can be left on two poles of the earth, nor can we get any charitable information about the evolution of the earth. Without competitions with floods, tornados, hailstones, typhoons or other natural disasters, we cannot have our homeland standing erectly, nor can we foster our children with safe shelter. Without challenging our own limits, we cannot set our feet on to the moon, nor can we see our beautiful planet from the universe. Competitions are necessary and crucial of the maintenance and the progression of the society from the ancient times. It is the competitions (that)make us stronger and more resistant to the natural attack. (很好的排比,涉及的范围很广,很有说服力,但感觉形式上和开头段有重复...)
Moreover, competitions is one of the inherent characteristics of human beings and it is the desire and force of competitions push forward the society’s advancement and maturation of individuals. With each one of us having equal opportunity to show our talent, competitions provide a stage where only the most powerful ones would survive to lead the public to higher goals. For example, in order to take a larger market share among rivals in the market, a company has to improve the products quality and customers services, giving customers more satisfactions. In order to get recognition out of all the researchers, an engineer has to devote his life into the area he studies, providing us more convenient and more efficient machines. In order to win the presidential selection, a candidate has to lead a decent work style and propose a suitable long term development plan for the country, guiding the whole society to the proper orientation. At the same time, competition may help us surmount the barriers: the athletes could refresh the world record, the pharmacologists might find new drugs to conquer certain disease, the companies would invent attractive products, etc.
Admittedly, unhealthy competition may have some negative effects upon the evolution of the society. As the competitions become more severe and more complicated, many invisible rules may gradually form, such as keeping certain business secrets, dumping merchandize in extremely low price, or using extraordinary high salary to attract senior managers from competing company. These not only undermine the company’s reputation, but also imbed uncertainty in its own company which may disturb the growth of the industry. Under these circumstances, regulation and coordination should come to conciliate the conflictions.
Taken together, form a whole picture, competition, just like fuel, is necessary for the development of the automobile of society and will ultimately bring beneficial to every one of us.
