唉,自己改~~ Will tourism soon become obsolete? The speaker claims so, for the reason that television and worldwide computer connections enable people to become familiar with a great many places that they have never visited (provide people a means to know the places that they have never visited). I concede that modern technology have been a great force in educating and informing people, but I hold that tourism will not be replaced(或substituted) for several reasons. Admittedly, television and the Internet today play an important role in people's daily lives(can more conveniently broaden people’s views). With their help, people will not need to go to a place by themselves to get to know it. You may watch everything on TV and huge amounts of pictures and videos are available in the net. The information provided will assist you to go through China or even the whole world within a single day, or bring you easily from desert to forest, from mountain to ocean which, we can not imagine several decades ago. However, tourism has its advantages which are not merits of television and the Internet in familiarizing people with a place. Tourism provides the viewer all kinds of sensory experience while you can only watch while you are in front of a TV set or computer. When you come to the Great Wall in China, you can touch the bricks which were laid thousands of years ago and feel the hardships and wisdom of the working people in ancient China. When you are in a boat floating on the way to Three Gorges of Yangtze River, the breeze, the smell of water, as well as the scenes around will show you the power of the nature and probably remember you of the great poems by the Tang Dynasty. Only when one is there by himself/herself can he/she to the most extent feel the truth and enjoy the scenery. Besides, there are other reasons rather than getting familiar with a place why people take a tour. People may get tired of their daily work and want to refresh themselves, or they may want to go for an outing with their friends, or even they want to change to a new environment which is more exiting. Obviously, TV and network connection can not fulfill such needs of people, therefore tourism will not be substituted. Not only television and worldwide computer connections will not replace tourism for the reason mentioned above, but they also help to encourage the industry of tourism. By their vivid introduction and attractive advertisement, the places of interest will be known by more people and the visiting number will certainly rise. And for the people themselves, they will have more ways to make their outlook brighter and choose the best place they want to go. Television and the Internet together with tourism, give us plenty of choices to better know the world. In conclusion, from what has been discussed above, television and worldwide computer connections will not replace tourism. On the contrary, they provide new ways to observe the world and help to make the industry of tourism more prosperous.
