WWW File Share Pro is a software which can help you share files with your friends. They can download files from your computer to their computers or upload files from their computers to your computer. What you need to do is to specify a directory which contains files you want to share (for example: "d:\share" or "e:\") and another directory to put uploaded files, then press the "Start" button, a service will start on your computer. You can stop this service at anytime. Then your friends can download/upload files via browser (IE/Netscape/Opera/etc.) They will not be required to install this software or any other software because an internet browser is enough. WWW File Share Pro supports password protection. If you enable password protection, only authorized user can access your service.
Frequently Asked Questions QUOTE
*What kind of browser does WWW File Share support?
We've tested IE, Netscape and Opera. WWW File Share works well with all of them.
*Do I need to install IIS or Apache first?
No, WWW File Share can run individually and you needn't install any HTTP server (IIS/Apache/Pws/Tomcat/etc) on your computer.
*Why my friends can not see the webpage through internet?
First, please check if there is some firewall software on your computer. Outside requests may be blocked by your firewall. You can config the firewall to enable the port number of WFS or enable WFS to respond outside requests. Then please make sure that other computers can access your computer directly.
Suppose those computers all installed WWW File Share, then
1) computer 1, 2, 3 can access computer 4
2) computer 1, 2, 3 can access each other
3) computer 4 can only access computer 2, it can not access computer 1 and 3 directly.
So if you installed WWW File Share on computer 1 or 3, your friends from computer 4 can not access the resource you shared.
*If WWW File Share can be installed behind a gateway router?
Then the IP address is your-router's-IP address, not your computer's. You can still use it locally, but those people outside from internet may not access the share service. To let others visit your computer directly, your router must support DMZ and Virtual Server.
- Virtual Server:
Allows WWW, FTP and other Internet server services on the LAN to be accessible to Internet users.
- DMZ:
The DMZ (DeMilitarized Zone) host feature provides unrestricted 2-way communication between Internet servers and one specified local machine.
If the computer's INTERNAL IP is 192.168.0.2, tell your router or gateway to set this address as the DMZ and set a virtual server to port 80 (suppose that you set port 80 for WWW File Share) at this address, then people outside can access your files.
*Is there a version for Unix or Linux?
No, now WWW File Share can only run on Windows system.
I'm using WWW File Share in my office, there is a LAN in my office room, my workmates can visit my URL but my friends can not visit it through internet.
Because you IP address can just work in your LAN, it's not a internet IP address, so others outside from the internet can not visit your website which created by WFS. To let them visit your computer, please make your computer connect to internet directly via a modem, ISDN, ADSL and so on. If you connect to internet via LAN, your website can only work in the LAN and the resource you shared can only be visited by users in the LAN.
*Must my computer be on-line?
Yes, or your friends can not connect to your computer and get files from your computer.
*Do I have to buy WWW File Share?
No, WWW File Share is freeware so you need not to buy it.
*Do I have to buy WWW File Share Pro?
Yes, WWW File Share Pro is a shareware program which means you have a chance to try the software before you buy it. If you plan to continue to use WWW File Share Pro please register it.
*I have more questions - who should I write to?
Please send your questions to support@wfshome.com. Refer to this page for more information. |
