The author asserts that it is socialization of children that determines the destiny of society, and in his view, we do not find how to raise children. However, in my opinion, the role that socialization played in society development is aggrandized, and the situation of education is not as awful as the author stands.

Before penetrate into discussion of this issue, the definition of socialization must be constrain first, which for individual, is a progress acting and participating in society, social roles, value orientation, social obligation, and social status are concerned. And then borrowing the theory from sociology, let us see how a child socialized from his birth. After birth, he learns the attitudes, values, and actions appropriate to individuals as members of a particular culture in family through interaction. And then he goes to school to learn what is appropriate behavior as a member of a smaller group within a larger society. Furthermore, when after school, he goes to society, this is an era of learning behavior in a social institution or developing his social skills. Through all these, a child becomes a member of society, and himself to the society. A child without socialization will not survive and thrive in society, and if society without socialization, all members are isolated, the society will be without communication, without ideas collusion, and without development.
However, even though the part socialization taking in society advance is essential, but not determined, as many other factors must be taken into consideration, of which creation and science must be the most essential ones. Consider that if not the invention of steam engine, which impulse the Industrial Revolution, we may still drive cart in street, not automobile; if not the world-wide application of computer which drives the Information Revolution, we may still live in our own world, not the entire world. So all the factors interacting each other to determine the development of society, each of which could not be abstracted from to influence itself.

For education’s sake, the goal of it is to make continuity to the children, to make them think independently, adopt their interest to adapt to the society. Through thousands of year’s development, we have explored a way to make children how to bring about a society. We teach them the fundamental knowledge of science and society to let them think for themselves in order to be creative, and teach them how to relate with each other in order to let them collaborate in society. All these are equipped for how to establish the future of society, as the essential factors discussed above. Certainly, the present education has its flaw, such as too utilitarian and futile to some extent. But these defects do not deteriorate the development of society, as for now, the key topic is to develop peacefully, hammering at inoculations to cure diseases，exploring the space，and application of Internet and so on.

So as a conclusion, beside socialization, there’s other factors determine the destiny of society, though socialization plays an essential role in it. Additionally, fortunately, we have make an big effort in education, which could teach children how to establish a better society, though more advance should be achieved.
