There is a discussion that whether it isnecessary for the teachers to assign homework every day. As far as I amconcerned, I think it is not necessary to leave daily homework.
The main reason is that too much homework maycause students not to well digest the knowledge. If astudent is left with too many assignments one time, the only thing he would dois to finish these tasks as possible. In some cases, this student may have tospend all his time to do it and do not have time to think over what he haslearnt today. Thus, since he does not have an overall knowledge system he maynot know the relation between the problems from the homework. In one certainproblem he may only have to look up the reference book and in the next he hasto do the same thing again. Because the problems only cause him to read therelative point, he can not easily work out the new problems though it may behave the similar point with the ones he have done before. In some situations, however, with the limitation of time being into consideration, he may not evenhave time to look up the point and the answers may be mostly wrong.
Moreover, for some types of subjects it isunnecessary, or even forbidden, to assign homework daily. In the universitythere are always some types of projects. Since most of these types of tasksrequire a long time to finish, we can not image how the students will do if hisinstructor leaves him a project daily. In this condition, if the teacher wantsto assign one everyday, he can only leave some question for the students toanswer and then the students only can learn the knowledge point of this courseand have no chance to practise. If the teacher really wants to assign theproject daily, the students may have to ignore most of the projects.
However, in some situations too muchhomework may bring benefits. When a student is left behind, he may have nochoice but to try his best to catch up. Thus, he may have to do a great amountof exercises and it is the teachers' job to assign sufficient homework. Thistime if the teachers give him assignment in the routine way, he may be behindforever. On the other hand, there are always some intelligent students who arenot satisfied with the number of the assignment. If a smart student can reallyaccomplish a small project everyday, it is the teachers' duty to meet his need.
In the final analysis, whether the teachersshould assign homework every day largely depend on the condition. In mostcases, the teachers should not do that when considering the ability of studentsand the courses itself.
口语
I prefer reading the work.
First, I can read iteverywhere.
I can do it inthe classroom, in the dormitory or even in the bus.
And watching requires TV, computer or otherdevices.
So I can’t watch it in the dormitory.
Second, the book can reflect the original thoughtof the author.
I can know the author’s feeling and attitudebetween the lines.
And in TV I can only know the thought ofthe director.
The director may damage the originalthought.
That’s why reading is better I think. |
