Some students like classes where teachers lecture (do all of the talking) in class. Other students prefer classes where the students do some of the talking. Which type of class do you prefer? Give specific reasons and details to support your choice.

As education is being more and more emphasized, the methods of education is placed to the center of public concern. At present, there are mainly two type of ways teaching, one is teacher-centered, whose talking is completely done by the teachers, whereas another dissimilar way, in which the students also play as the leading actors. Some people advocate that student-centered education is more rational since it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student. I cannot agree with them any more. There are many reasons why I hold confidence on this view, and I will explore a few primary ones here.
First of all, the traditional teacher-centered education places too much emphasis on teachers and ignores the individual needs and interests of each student. For centuries, we always take it for granted that it is teachers’ duty to do all of the talking in class, all the works students have to do is just sitting down and listening. I admit that this kind of teaching has some merits, such as the easy manipulation for teacher to control the progress of teaching, and the comfortable way of students’ learning. Yet, if we take a full deliberation of teacher-centered study, we may find some intrinsic problems, if teacher do all of the talking, how can they know whether the students can really absorb the knowledge? Is the way of teaching really suitable for the students? Do students really in favor of the way of learning?
However, seldom has anyone advanced these issues, since this kind of way teaching has last for a long period. Actually teacher-centered education is, to some extent, functions well. It seems that most students’ requirements are meted. Nevertheless, recent survey committed by many experts of psychology and education reveal that this traditional single-side education method has low efficiency, because this way of teaching puts students in almost a passive position. As the development our society, old concept of education should be transformed, from teacher-centered to student-centered, which will help to achieve more effective teaching and learning.   
As a matter of fact, interaction and communication between students and teachers can lead to an more effective way of study, since every student is a unique individual, which may differing from each other in regards reading, writing and comprehension. If the diversity of students is taken into account, it will be more suitable for most students’ learning.
In addition, since in student-centered education students will feel they are focused on, there is a strong likelihood that their interests to study will be stimulated, and there is no denying the fact that interest is an essential factor to people’s study. Also, student-centered education will help teachers to know how the students are studying, and the interaction between students and teacher can help teacher to adjust the way of teaching, which may appropriate to students in most of the study period. Therefore, student-centered education is undoubtedly has is own merits.
In conclusion, although teacher-centered study is prevailing at present, it has many deficiencies and should be improved to a more effective way that suitable to most students. So I strongly agree to support the view that teacher-centered should be transformed to student-centered, which can fit the students better.
