4. Graduate Record Examination (GRE). An average of 60% or greater on the scores of the Verbal and Quantitative components of the test, and a 3.5 or greater on the Analytical Writing component are desired. Only official score reports for tests taken within 2 years from the date of application will be accepted. Experience has demonstrated that international students who have Verbal GRE scores below 20% are unlikely to succeed in an academic program at MCW. Particular attention is given to this score. Admission Committees for the individual programs will evaluate these scores to determine the applicant's aptitude based on the specific requirements of that program.

Interpretation of Minimum Admission Requirements:
The Admission Committees will evaluate the overall ability of the applicant based on these criteria and will subsequently report their recommendation regarding the applicant's admission to the Dean of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. The GPA and GRE scores of most matriculated students are significantly above the minimum requirements established by the Graduate Studies Council. Therefore caution is used by Admission Committee members in recommending the admission of an applicant who does not meet the minimum admission requirements, because the likelihood is poor that such an applicant will achieve a distinguished academic record. In the unusual circumstance of recommending admission of an applicant who does not meet the minimum standards, the recommendation must be accompanied by a persuasive explanation to the Dean. The Dean will review the application and render a final admission decision. All offers of admission are extended officially and solely from the Dean of the Graduate School. “
The average GRE scores of the entering class are 1275 Verbal+Quantative combined and 5.0 Analytical Writing; the average undergraduate GPA of our incoming students is 3.6.
