The issue whether daily homework assigned by teachers is necessary for students or not is a hectic topic in the society. As far as I concerned, the homework should be treated depending on the specific conditions. In the first place of analysis, whether homework is necessary or not is different among different groups of students. In the primary school, pupils have not formed their own study methods, even they do not know how to study, let alone arrange their time efficiently and effectively. So at that time, teachers should assign homework to their pupils and lead them to a way of studying efficiently. On the other hand, when students enroll into the middle school and high school, they have more or less formed their own methods and habits of study. If teachers always assign much homework too often, the students will have little time to finish their own study plan. Because of different conditions of various students, students' own plans is probaly more suitable and beneficial to their study. Therefore, the teachers should not assign too much homework to the students, and leave more time free to the students to study by themselves. This does not mean that teachers give up homework, but means that teachers should assign less homework or some homework more flexible to keep the students go on a right direction. What is more, the homework should be assigned different according to different courses. Students may have different interests and majors. Some courses will be benefited by finishing homework, while some ones will not. In my opinion, the courses requiring students' familiar skills should assign more homework to force students to train more. For example, in the art class, if there is no homework, who can guarantee that the students will exercise much to improve their painting skill? How hard the students will study to keep drawing in front of canvas, instead of spending time on other entertainment? On the contrary, if students spend too much time on the homework, especially the sort of copying principles, assigned by teachers who are responsible to research courses, homework will become a kind of blockage of the students' development. Research courses should focus on the development of students' skill about analyzing problems independently. Therefore, due to different characters of courses, teachers should not treat the students at the same level of homework. Homework should be assigned according to specific conditions.
