第一次写,之前也没看过范文,用时N长,写得很艰难,大家多批评指教啊

What we can't deny is that human beings have got so many benefits from research. But that doesn't mean that all kinds of money spent on research are valuable. Some sorts of research depart the right direction and may be harmful to people. My opinion is that the purpose of research in right direction should be made sure.

Let's look into the positive aspects of research at first. There is no doubt that the progress of science and technology is made by research, which causes the development of society and the improvement of the life of human beings. For example, the invention of computer leads us to a new world and makes our life much more convenient. Now, we can do large computing using computer which was impossible things for us before. And with the appearance of internet, information travels from one place to another with the speed you can't imagine before. This invention which comes from research makes great contribution to human beings.

And it is true that we can't predict the results of research. If we prospect to get a good result from it, doubtlessly we should spend money on it with the risk of getting a controversial result. And even some unwanted results can guide the direction of the next research. So it is no need and impossible to assure good results coming from research.

But on the opposite aspects, we must see that some cases of research may threaten or make harm to people. For instance, many European scientists had a large interest in nuclear science in 1930s and 1940s. With abundant money and a great number of scientists working on, it got expeditious developing. After knowing the incredible energy which releases after nuclear reaction, the U.S. decided to developing nuclear weapons, which then bombed in Japan. Now the technology of making nuclear weapons is mastered by several other countries, the number of which is increasing. This situation makes the whole world fallen into scaring, because any country which holds nuclear weapons can make an unaffordable destroy to the world. Clone is another example. If clone a person is allowed, many problems may appear, especially the ethical problems. So the way research will go to should be forecast and the wrong way research needn’t be invested in. In addition, some kinds of research that are proved to be bootless are surely no need to be spent money on. For the limited money should be invested in the most valuable research.

In conclusion, the speaker’s assertion that all investment in research is valuable is unbelievable. I agree that money spent on research is a good investment generally. But the purpose and the possible result of research should be well considered before spending money on it, although most research may contribute a lot to people. Other wise some research may threaten or even destroy the world.
