~5 s8 L* H" |2 Q

Misbehavior in College Application:

Many Korean high school students, and also their parents, whether they attend a high school in Korea or in the US cheat in the college application process to get admission from top-colleges.

- s9 V$ h9 m/ L8 R I would like to tell you some very common misbehavior. Although I am also a Korean, I think it is very unfair if honest students are rejected from top-colleges, instead,dishonest students are admitted to top-colleges. Q0 M7 i+ \: y5 ^3 R. d

- One day, my son told me that a few Korean students in his high school(in U.S.) have list of exam questions accumulated and inherited from seniors, and they share it to get high score in their classes. This situation is also prevalent in Korea.8 v8 w1 z- I$ e6 a0 b* Y
I think that it happened by cultural difference. Having list of exam means hard-studying in Korea. Of course, It is different with US. And Many Korean don’t know that.
5 K' ^! J8 j8 a# B! }& p- Many high schools in Korea maintain a few classes for students who want to study abroad especially in the US. Because the students in the special classes have no concern in competing with most of other students who want to study in Korea, teachers tend to give them very generous grades. Such schools usually regard number of students admitted to top-colleges in the US as their reputation. In my opinion, admission officers in the US colleges do not know about high school education in Korea, how they grade a special group of students, what they teach - focused on only getting high scores in tests required to apply colleges in the US.
1 o( A! ?5 Z( ^# h I think I have to admit that there is special classes for students going US. But, It is free to create that in Korea since the right of students, determining their course for future, has to be protected. And, the cheating, 1 year ago, the government found out that in some school, and Many people sue them. And I think there are no more damn things like that.

- Using time difference between Korea and the US, professional test takers take the tests in Korea, and tell the contents to their customers studying in the US by e-mail. This is absolutely possible because time in Korea is 13~14 hours ahead of the time in eastern part of the US.
9 g( t: I+ y$ B' o H3 ]! bIt was also captured recently, It was really shocking for Korean to hear that since the criminals were the children of celebrities. And I’m not sure that there are still happening like that. Anyway, The Ivy League College handled it.
( Y( N ?- [) n4 ~- If tests are administered in Korea, even taking the test in another’s name is possible, and the brokers make money. My son took an AP test in Korea while he was in Korea. The test center was a private high school in Korea, and most of the test takers were students of the school. During the test, my son saw many cheating scene, and surprisingly the supervisor of the test who was a teacher of the school didn’t catch the cheating even though he knew it.
" J2 r4 l+ j$ }I ’m sorry that It is true, there are few managers who take charges of the US test, many students have been protesting, but there are no clue.
. M# G y! T; E- N+ B+ s-In case of TOEFL, many of Korean students get very high score even though they can’t speak English well. Imagine what makes it possible.
; p5 ^/ d7 l' ?+ II’m clearly sure that It is not because of cheating. But, It happened by ashaming reason. Many people learn how to pick one, not theory, The English tests have so regular patterns that It makes it possible.
: e7 [& h- e! D' s( UIn Korea, there are many people who passed TOEIC, TOEFL, and so on, but we can’t tell he is good at." D5 ? }4 [% Q+ `
- S9 r# h4 @- L, k& s/ a- Many Korean students, whether they study in U.S. or in Korea, take AP-tests without taking courses required to take the tests. They prepare the test without lectures.
+ H8 K- x: o- P$ _ I heard it is Not a Problem! Since there are not so many services for AP test, the College Board permits taking exam without lectures. And there are many guiding books. And I don’t see any problem' Z' @/ J5 y9 S, P, } p, y5 I

Well, there is a company doing that in Korea. It costs 6,200$ for 1,000 words. The rich utilize that.

Well, Not a thing. It is even possible to buy all of the positions of taking test and to sell it. All of that are possible |
