TOPIC: ARGUMENT17 - The following appeared in a letter to the editor of the Walnut Grove town newspaper.

"Walnut Grove's town council has advocated switching from EZ Disposal (which has had the contract for trash collection services in Walnut Grove for the past ten years) to ABC Waste, because EZ recently raised its monthly fee from $2,000 to $2,500 a month, whereas ABC's fee is still $2,000. But the town council is mistaken; we should continue using EZ. EZ collects trash twice a week, while ABC collects only once. Moreover, EZ-which, like ABC, currently has a fleet of 20 trucks-has ordered additional trucks. Finally, EZ provides exceptional service: 80 percent of respondents to last year's town survey agreed that they were 'satisfied' with EZ's performance."

The author of this letter argues that EZ Disposal is better than ABC, because EZ collects trash more frequently than ABC, and provides better service than ABC. The author also mentions that EZ has a 80% high satisfaction and deserve the future contract to collect trash for Walnut Grove residents. Take some observation, and we can find that this conclusion relies on some uncertain assumptions which might lead to the opposite side.
First of all, the author emphasizes that EZ collects trash twice a week, much more than once a week which ABC does. From my point of view, twice a week might not be necessary for residents in Walnut Grove, maybe they will consider it a waste of resource and money, especially if the extra 500 dollars have to been delivered to them. The author has not given creditable foundation to this concern. In addition, the inter quality of a corporation is what we should focus on, higher fee probably be a sign that EZ is operated inefficiently, and ABC is the efficient one.
Secondly, the author claimed that EZ currently has a fleet of 20 trucks like ABC has, and EZ has ordered more trucks. Inquire into this, I doubt that whether more trucks are necessary. On the contrast, I consider it absolutely a requirement to raise the price even higher. Even we assume that there is an very urgent demand of more trucks and more service, the author can not ensure EZ is better than ABC unless he prove that ABC will not do the same thing in the near future.
Thirdly, the author alleges that EZ has a 80% high percent of satisfaction of residents of Walinut Grove. However, he has not told how many respondents participated in this survey and whether ABC has a high contentment too. If the amount of the participater is too small, this survey is not convincing. And what if the respondents of this survey are all in a distriction EZ pay more attention to? these issues are all things we need to concern about to ensure the conclusion which one is better.
To sum up, the author bases his recommendation on some questionably assumptions. Generally, he has not provided enough evidence that ABC will not adopt the implement measures like EZ will do and might have cited a unilateral survey. Only when he has solved these matters, I will be persuaded. And still, we need to think over the inside management quality of these two enterprises.

逻辑错误点都攻击到了，不过稍显单薄～其实象那个survey在一段里面发展一下内部层次也是可以的，这样就会显得更加丰富了
