issue7[AWER小组]第1次作业
TOPIC: ISSUE7 - "The video camera provides such an accurate and convincing record of contemporary life that it has become a more important form of documentation than written records."
The speaker claims that video camera is more important that written records in recording contemporary life. I agree with the speaker that video camera is a significant apparatusin recording our life .However, it would never replace written records, which is as essential as it and even more important to it.
Admittedly, development of technology and science make our life more convenient and more comfortable on a large extent including video camera. For instance, the world's modern public traffic including thousands of automobiles and a great many planes, make our worldwide transportation more and more efficient. Another good case in point is the multimedia thanks to which we are would (world) is becoming smaller and smaller(?), turns into a "global village". Due to multimedia we can communicate with other people who share our interests more conveniently and become familiar with a large number of places that might be thousands of miles away from us .Moreover, it would be more vivid if we record our own life and unforgettable moments with video camera, thus video camera is chose by a multitude of people.
Notwithstanding the foregoing reasons why video cameras are popular and widely accepted, the function of written records is irraplacable (irreplaceable) as well as vital for us. First, written records would give its audience a more pressive and more formal impression. Consider, for example, when legislators get gather to enact a certain law they prefer to recording (record) their content of meeting with pens and papers rather than video cameras or other sorts of modern apparatus, and attribute them to local governments in the form of written records, but not through the Internet. Secondly, common sense informs me that almost all tools come from the advancement of technologies work by electricity. However, electricity is a kind of resource which is incredible. The situation of using electricity is more and more intensive. Just imagine, a worldwide power failure have to be implemented in order to save the resource of electricity, how can we record our own lives? How can we communicate with each other? I insist the only way is writing them on papers. Therefore, although modern apparatus are convenient, we should never unduly rely on them, at the same time, written records together with some other traditional ways of recording are still play a significant role in our lives.
Finally, in turn, while we emphasize the importance of written records we also should not be ignorance of the convenience and comfortableness that modern technology (technologies), such as video cameras, bring us. Make best and full use of modern apparatus on a certain extent would provide us a high efficiency in our life. For example, surfing on the Internet would be more efficacious than reading newspaper when we seek for some information or scan daily news.
In sum, I agree with the speaker that it would be more convinient (convenient)and comfortable for us to use modern apparatus such as video camera. However, written records is (are) crucial to us as video cameras do when(in) recording. They have their own functions. In addition, we should be careful not to unduly depend on either of the two. Only by doing so, can we make full use of them.
