1.The speaker asserts that society should emphasis more on the reasoning and cognitive skills. Nevertheless, I think the speaker neglect the importance of career skills. In my opinion, I supposed that society should simultaneously emphasis on the cultivation of both the reasoning skills and career skills.

2.If not for systematical reasoning and other cognitive skills developed by generation of scientists and thinkers, the modern industrial world could not have come into being. Reasoning is a necessary procedure for researching the background of a problem and then making find of the regulation and knowledge hidden behind the problem. Math research is a good example for substantiating that. Reasoning is the foundation of math analysis, substantiation and discovery research all of which enabled the development of math that enabled practically all the production activities we do today. The ability of discovering a problem almost relies on cognitive skills. Nearly all the physic developments are resulted in the finding of some detail of an experiment. example

3.As more and more students can study in university, the social knowledge level has been boosted to a level that has never reached before. For graduates, it becomes harder and harder to get a job fit for them. The changes of social situation,                 lead result in students value more on the career skills in the cost of sacrificing the reasoning and cognitive skills. The popularity of music, sports, painting, and so on also distract students attention from the basic lessons set by the college for developing their intellect.

4.However, I think the society should both intensify the career skills and intellect cultivation. The two skills rely on each other in many aspects. Career skills can make the research and study of basic science that lead to development of all the society more efficient and effective. Also the reasoning and cognitive skills can bring amelioration about the existing production procedure and machines.

5.In sum, I believe that society should place enough emphasis on the intellect but at the same time could not neglect the cultivation of career skills.
