题目：ARGUMENT2 - The following appeared in a letter sent by a committee of homeowners from the Deerhaven Acres to all homeowners in Deerhaven Acres.

"Seven years ago, homeowners in nearby Brookville community adopted a set of restrictions on how the community's yards should be landscaped and what colors the exteriors of homes should be painted. Since then, average property values have tripled in Brookville. In order to raise property values in Deerhaven Acres, we should adopt our own set of restrictions on landscaping and housepainting."

In this argument, the arguer conclude that Deerhaven Acres should adopt the same restrictions on landscaping and housepainting that Brookvile has taken several years ago in order to improve the property values in Deerhaven Acres just as Brookvile rewarded after the adoption. At first glance, it may seem to be reasonable, because that's just what we always do to absorb the experience from others and want to make an improvement. But to think deeply about this case, it contains several unconvincing asumptions and therefore is not so persuasive.

First of all, the author claimed that because Brookvile raised its property value after adopting a series of restrictions on how the community's yards should be landscaped and what colors the exteriors of homes should be painted, so Deerhaven Acres can of course get the same reward after adopt his own restriction on landscaping and housepainting just like Brookvile has. But is this really the case? The pleasant result was just happened in Brookvile, who can be so sure that Deerhaven Acres can get the same thing after the same kind of measure? Maybe Brookvile has a big yard and poor exterior color, which are the only disadvantages they got, while other things are all nearly perfect including the materials and inner decoration. However these are not true in Deerhaven Acres. So are you still so sure you can get the idealistic result as you want?

Secondly, even assuming that Deerhaven Acres has the same problem like Brookvile and can pick up the same restriction, the arguer unfairly indicate a causal relationship between the situation 3 years ago and nowadays. There may be many other factors that changed during the past 3 years, such as the awearness of beauty, the changes in the climate, the diversity of the local economy, which are also may lead to the alter in the property value. Without accounting all the explaination, the arguer can not take it automatically that the benefits several years ago can still fit for the present circumstance.

Thirdly, the arguer conclude that average property value in Brookvile have tripled after adopting the restrictions. I can't help wondering what average really means. Suppose there are only a few people, for example, less than 10 persons, then can such a small amount really stand for the regular discipline in a big amount of people, assuming that Deerhaven Acres is one of these places. Maybe this is because the only 10 persons have an unbelievable splendid taste in how to decorate their homes, which after seeing, no one can escape from greeting. However, if people in Deerhaven Acres only have a general taste, so are you still so sure that success will come around without covering all the possibilities?

To sum up, the arguer's conclusion about Deerhaven Acres should adopt a set of restrictions on landscaping and housepainting in the aim to raising the average property values is not well supported as it stands. To bolster it, the author must provide more evidence, like a survey or a statistic, to make a profound prospect on what may brings to Deerhaven Acres after the adoption. As setting up a series of new rules in an even a small place is not such a small things, which may change a lot of people's living habits or other traditional things. So, without enough evidence, we can't take the ideas at discretion.
