Congratulations on your admission to The University of Texas at Dallas for Fall 2008! We look forward to meeting you.
Your UTD admission packet is ready to be mailed. It includes your admission letter and information about housing, international student orientation, and the mandatory tuberculosis test. It also includes a checklist requesting additional documentation needed to issue your I-20.
The documents that we need in order to process your I-20 include:
1) Bank statement or offer letter of assistantship. The bank statement must be on bank letterhead, it must verify liquid assets (cash, certificates of deposit, time deposits or solvency certificates), and the statement must not be more than 6 months old.
2) Financial Affidavit. The required UTD form will mailed to you, but you can download a copy from the UTD ISS website at http://www.utd.edu/student/international/forms/index.html. If you receive an offer letter of graduate assistantship, indicate on the Financial Affidavit that The University of Texas at Dallas is your financial sponsor. This document also should be no more than 6 months old.
If you submit the requested financial documents within 5 business days, your I-20 will be sent with your admission letter and packet so you will receive all your documents at once. If the documents are not received within 5 business days, the admission letter and packet will be sent by regular mail and the I-20 will be issued and mailed separately when upon receipt the requested documents. You may submit the documents to us by fax (972-883-4010) or e-mail. International Student Orientation: All international students are required to attend one full International Student Orientation before enrolling for classes at U.T. Dallas. You can find information about UTD's mandatory orientation at http://www.utdallas.edu/student/international/new/orientation.html. Medical Screening: International students are also required to submit the UTD TB form completed and signed by the doctor. Copies and faxes are not accepted. You may have the test done in your home country if you wish and bring the completed form with you when you arrive on campus. A form will be included in your admission packet, or you can download it at http://utd.edu/healthcenter/utdhealthcenter-forms.html (You will need to submit the form to the UTD Student Health Center.) Information regarding student health insurance: The University of Texas System Board of Regents requires that all F and J visa holders obtain Student Health Insurance and repatriation/evacuation coverage while enrolled at any U. T. System institution. For more information regarding student health insurance, including minimum coverage required and documentation needed to apply for a waiver, please visit our website at http://www.utdallas.edu/student/international/insurance/index.html or contact us at issoinsurance@utdallas.edu. On-Campus Housing: If you would like to live on UTD's campus, it is important that you act quickly. Housing at University Village and Waterview Park is not guaranteed, and we recommend that you submit your housing application as soon as possible. You can do so by following the instructions on UTD's Residential Life website, http://utdallas.edu/housing/.
NOTE: Any questions related to your admission should be directed to the Office of Enrollment Services at interest@utdallas.edu.
After enrolling at UTD, you must notify the Registrar if you change your visa status or apply for Permanent Residency.
We are very pleased that you have selected UTD, and we look forward to seeing you. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Prospective International Student Team
