When asked about whether the government should focus more on solving the immediate problems of today rather than trying to solve the anticipated problems of the future, people may find it hard to come to consensus due to their different experiences and conflicting values. The speaker thinks that the government should focus more on today's problems than future's. While others think that the future's problems should be taken into heart because, in this way, our country can have a long time benefits. From my perspective, I call for a balance that not only today's problems but also future's problems should we take it seriously.
No one can defy that the problems of today are tense and we must take measures to these, such as the high unemployment rate, terrorism, and so on. We all know that the recession lets more and more people unemployed which has caused anger from the public toward the government. If we do not take some measures to it, the society's peace may not be kept. According to a recent survey conducted by the Sociology Department of Peking University among some criminals in China, seventy percent of criminals are unemployment. The result of the survey also indicates the high unemployment rate will do harm to our society. As to terrorism, which has caused more damage to the citizens and society, we also should solve this problem so as to prevent the accident like "911" happen again. From this we know the importance of taking measures to today's problems.
Of course we should know, the future's problems are also serious. For example, the problems of education and environment have a great effect to our future. We all know the children are our future. If the education problem can be solved, what we can depend on to let our society develop quickly. Consider the problem of ozone depletion thought to be a result of chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) emissions. When the government regulated CFC production in the U.S., corporations responsible for releasing CFC's into the atmosphere simply moved abroad. Because of this, the ozone can not stop the harmful rays from the universe as usual. If we do not take some measures to this future's problem, in future, the cutaneum carcinoma and the global warming will be more serious. "Forefathers set up in year, the descendant enjoys the coal", we should take in into heart and only in this way, can we make sure the society will be developed quickly not only at moment but also at future.
In sum, from what has been discussed above, we may finally draw the conclusion that we should call for balance that not only today's problems but also future's problems should we take it seriously.
